Player Jamie Donley

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am hoping the options don't turn out to mean much. Even what looks like a low option to us would be a big decision for Preston or Oxford. Plus the players have to agree to go and we can make a salary offer that would be much better than anything they can get at their loan clubs.

The main thing would be playing time. Both Alfie and Jamie are going to be nailed on starters next season if they stay where they are while we would almost certainly make them sit in the stand and watch some expensive show pony fuck about.
No chance of Oxford shelling out anywhere near those prices. Preston would struggle. Their record is around 2m. Not as if Alfie has taken all before him. Done ok but that’s about it. Could be on our bench next season.

There'll be 1st options or buybacks or % sell-on clauses attached for most of these for a set period of time.

If they can't offer competitive football to aid development and they're nowhere near 1st team level, then these all make sense.

At full strength, they're nowhere near it. Mikey Moore doesn't have a permanent option for a reason.

What is “full strength”? You mean IF Deki and Maddison are ever back to what they were? Because right now a lot of the loanees would be starting.

I am taking Donley and Lankshear over Simons and Muani every day of the week. Moore over Odobert every day and twice on Sunday.
Muani can go and everyone will rejoice but replacing Simons with Donley is how you end up even further down the footballing pyramid than we already are.

We will see where Moore stands at the beginning of next season but Odobert has shown more in his stints in the PL than Moore in his brief time. I believe in Moore long term but it is a significant jump he will need to make if we survive.

We all think those who don’t play are better than those who do until they get their chance.

Simons has shown nothing in the Premier League. Moore has never had a stint in the Premier League but he will be a year older, stronger and better for the mental strength he is showing at Rangers. It’s baffling that people want to hang on to the players that have been uniformly shite.

I never said I want to hold onto any of them.

But expecting an academy lad who is only a year younger than Xavi yet still hasn’t made any sort of contribution for our club to be better is not grounded in reality.

Seriously

I don’t know anybody that overrates our youth players more than you.

In your world they should all be starting or on our bench, despite absolutely none of them pulling up any trees this season.
Our youth teams got smashed every time they played men this season, but again you reckon half of them are good enough.
Let’s take this Jamie Donley, 4 substitute appearances Zero starts, for a lower mid table championship side in a half season, but somehow you think should be starting over a proven Dutch international.

There is not one player that we have ever sold before being given a chance at Tottenham that I believe we have ever regretted, and there are none out on loan apart from Moore that we will regret selling, if we get takers for them.

Yeah, can't disagree with this.
I've got high hopes for some of our youngsters but they are no way better than the likes of Simons, Odobert and even Tel, all of whom have plenty of experience in top leagues and international football, even if it is only U21 level it's higher than all of our prospects.

Some of our first team, well, most of it may look shit right now but that's not their actual level and we know this because we've actually seen it.

It's amazing how reactive some people can be because for examples in the first few months of Moores loan, there were mutterings of "see he's not even good enough to play for Rangers" and now, after a couple of months he's already better than what we have?!
We've already got a divide in here on Gray, with some thinking he's great and others failing to see what he's good at.
Throw the likes of Donley, Lanks, LWB and even Moore into the first team and they'd be getting slated after their first game, probably by the same people who were calling for them to play!

Progression in youth football isn't linear, there are peaks and troughs and no one person develops the same as the next because there are so many variables.
