Dos Santos to me is just a waste of talent. He should be settled and maturing by now as a player, but it just never happens. He overplays the ball, doesn't pass enough, and generally looks like he doesn't give a fuck (unless he's playing for mexico)

:parker:

America wanted him (and they're playing like shit now so I really would have liked that) but were priced out. I wish they would give him a proper chance or just let him go. He's by far the best player El Tri has and he's not even playing first team football, for fuck's sake.

You think he's better than chicharito?

Of course I do. Chicharito is really good at being in the right place at the right time and Gio runs his fucking ass off creating chances. I know I'm in the minority on this one.

But Chicharito has never scored a goal like Gio did in the Gold Cup final last year...

Re: January 2012 Transfer Window Thread *Warning: Contains I

yeah but that was against the us reserve team as the first team were playing in the Copa America

I rate Gio too especially on the right side of a front 3 cutting in but he's got along way to go before he's on Chicharitos level who scored 20 goals in his first season against top defences and has a great scoring record for Mexico too. It all boils down to their mentality imo and Javier is head and shoulders above Gio. I'd liken Gio to a spoilt rich kid who never had to work hard for things and Chicharito the opposite.

Nope. It was the first team.

United States:
GK 1 Tim Howard
RB 6 Steve Cherundolo 11'
CB 3 Carlos Bocanegra (c)
CB 21 Clarence Goodson
LB 14 Eric Lichaj
CM 4 Michael Bradley
CM 13 Jermaine Jones 90'
RW 22 Alejandro Bedoya 63'
LW 8 Clint Dempsey 87'
SS 10 Landon Donovan 33'
CF 20 Freddy Adu 86'
Substitutions:
DF 12 Jonathan Bornstein 11'
FW 9 Juan Agudelo 63'
MF 16 Sacha Kljestan 86'
Manager:
Bob Bradley

Also, the Gold Cup took place before the Copa America last year, and the US wasn't in the 2011 Copa America anyway, although Mexico was.

Re: January 2012 Transfer Window Thread *Warning: Contains I

That was definitely not the reserve side, Copa America takes place after the Gold Cup and the US didn't even participate. Seeing Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey that crushed made me smile for weeks.

Anyway, I mean that I think he's better all around for the Mexican team - he plays extremely well with Barrera. Obviously he's got a chip on his shoulder, and I think he does act a bit entitled so I won't defend his behavior at all. If he fucked up so badly that Redknapp doesn't think he deserves one, then like I said, let him fuck off to somewhere he'll actually get to play. It's kind of like Mancini's problem with Adam Johnson except that Johnson actually gets a fair amount of playing time.

It's just frustrating to watch, is all.

Beat me to it. Yeah, Mexico played the under 22s or some shit like that. They were dreadful and we flamed out spectacularly.

The thing is though Mexico are usually playing some shit Caribbean team in competative matches so he'll look better and have more space to play. In England he's completely out of his comfort zone. I'd use him more than Harry has mind you but you never know what's going on behind the scenes. I would've thought Mexico would've sent their best team to the Copa and sent the youngsters to the Gold Cup as it's pretty crap.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said. I think the only reason they do that is because of the rivalry with the US but I'd much rather see them take on Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, etc. I think they'd be a much better side for it. They played Venezuela the other day and won 3-1 with Salcido + the B team. They looked like shit for most of the game and still won. Guaranteed that wouldn't happen if they were playing someone that's actually good.

I live in the united states, and I'm going to support another country :mong:

Re: January 2012 Transfer Window Thread *Warning: Contains I

Has Nelsen actually signed?

If not WTF are we doing letting Corluka, Bassong and Pienaar all leave without any replacements?!

We have massively weakened the squad!

Re: January 2012 Transfer Window Thread *Warning: Contains I

Contract terminated with Blackburn so expected to sign anytime now.

Re: January 2012 Transfer Window Thread *Warning: Contains I

Transfers all done. January 2012 is old news. Can we close the thread now and start new ones about the new signings, strengthened/weakened positions, Levy´s [in]sanity, Harry Redknapp's triffic white army, etc. etc. ?
