If we sign a striker, unless we want to stunt Kane's development it needs to be someone happy to play second fiddle. Therefore I cannot see us signing Bony, Berahino, Benteke or anyone along those lines. I suspect if anyone we'll be looking at players like say Jelavic.

Made so many posts on Kanes development, so I'll keep it short.

You're an idiot.

So who scores the goals if Kane gets injured? Soldado and Ade are on a mighty 5 goals... Between them... In all comps!

Best will in the world Soldado doesn't look like he's going to turn it around any time soon and Ade is a complete arse.
Another one trying to jinx Harry into getting an injury, if this happens I will hunt you down...after I've finished with JDK JDK

Put to bed in what way exactly? I saw lots of people disagreeing with each other and I thought I offered a slightly different perspective. But nah, I guess it's easier to call me an idiotic, lazy cunt eh?

I'm not sure if you're trolling or you've just not read far back enough. You've said the exact same thing many people have said.

If you can't be fucked to read back, I can't be fucked to type.

"We shouldn't buy a great player who would be in our first 11, because of Kane" is such a fuckwit thing to say. Yes, lets not try to sign top players anymore and see how far that takes you. While we're at it, sell Eriksen, he may "not allow Kane to develop" since Kane likes to play behind the striker and not as one. Fuck it, sell the entire forward line and Lloris, since Kane can play in goal. Don't want to stall his development.

I read the previous 3/4 pages before commenting my opinion. Am I not allowed to post without being called an idiot?

As for the actual argument. Should we sign a top class number 10 even though we have Eriksen? Should we sign a top class goalie even though we have Lloris? Should we sign a top class RB even though we have Walker? Didn't think so, my argument is it's the same for Kane. We have Naughton to back up Walker, Vorm to backup Lloris. All I want is the same for Kane.

I'm with this. Particularly because finding a top player in January is notoriously difficult.

Even if you found one who a team was willing to sell, they'd be overpriced like crazy - and unlikely to be our number one target.

Edit: unless, of course, an opportunity presented itself that was too good to turn down. Some kind of Van-der-Vaart 'transfer broke down at the last minute but still wants to be sold' sorta thing.

So, having a surplus of good players is a bad thing? Do you think City mind having Nasri and Silva? Chelsea with Costa and Remy? Woolwich with Sanchez and Cazorla? To compete on multiple fronts you need a great squad, not just a great starting 11, and that means having at least 3 competent strikers. We have 1.

You want us to buy someone who will play "second fiddle to Kane". Who is going to join a team, knowing they probably will be warming a bench and more importantly why would they join? Would Austin be happy with being a bench warmer, simply for the sake of a slightly better wage? That kid in France? Inggs? Doubt it, we'd just buy another shit striker, leaving Kane still the only 1 competent.

And to put your convictions to the test, by your logic you'd decline Benteke on a free transfer because it would "hurt Kane"? No, you'd accept him and go back on your own convictions because to do otherwise would be fucking insane.

Ideally we need to sign an attacker with the versatility that Kane, Chadli etc can offer.

If Kane is nailing that position up top, maybe the new guy can compete in the wide positions etc. Essentially we don't want to sign someone who can only play up top.
