Transfers January 2018 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not melting here mate, not at all. However, if “in the next few days”, Wenger swoops because we are haggling over a payment plan or a transfer fee, having apparently agreed terms with the player, wouldn’t you be a little miffed to lose out on Moura to Woolwich? The sooner the deal is put to bed the better if Moura is, & by most reports he is, the player we want to (& can) bring in
Not aimed at you. And yes, I would, more than miffed. But I've followed Moura for years and he has a good head on his shoulders. I don't think Woolwich is for him, and he'd know that. Also, he will have absolutely spoken to his mate Serge Aurier, who seems to be loving life here.

Normally I'm tetchy and anxious with these transfers too, but always have trust in Poch and Levy. Poch's change in narrative from ''not looking for anyone'' to ''let's see'' has comforted me.

It's how Levy does this. We all know how he works.

It's almost like these multi-million dollar transfers and contracts are extremely complicated international negotiations, with a lot of legal and financial wrangling between multiple parties.

Nah. All Levy's fault. Tight bastard won't splash the cash. What's the difference between five or ten million here or there? Not like it adds up or impacts the bottom line, or has any affect whatsoever on the finances of the club while we finish construction a billion pound stadium.

Poch never said we’re not looking for anyone.

Would you want to miss out on Moura if that is who Poch has identified? I can’t imagine we’d have gone to all the trouble of showing him round & agreeing personal terms if he wasn’t. And this is what is being reported.
Fast forward to the negotiations between the clubs. I accept it’s not as simple as just agreeing to pay an extra £10 million to get the deal done, but it’s unlikely that the valuations are that far apart. Again, there would appear to have been little/no point in discussion with the player if we knew already that PSG wanted much more than we were willing to pay.
But all the time we are haggling on the fee for the player, the more frustrating it is for the player & the selling club, & the more likely it is we will get Willian’ed. Imagine Wenger snapping him up for £27 million just because we refused to go above £25 million, for example. That would be a difficult pill to swallow.
