I know he's not a DM and he didn't have the best of times with Fulham despite a promising start (who did!?) - we could do alot worse at this price.

Zambo-Anguissa who had a poor time last season is having one hell of a season for Villarreal (and was excellent at Marseille before hand) so it probably was just a mixture of being awfully coached last season and the overall squad not being good enough.

Are Fulham honestly surprised by Gala not being willing to allow a player that clocks a lot of minutes for them to return back to his parent club prior to the set date in the deal?

Tony Khan is fucking weird.

I know he's a bit of a dick but I miss Nabil.

Always gave his all when playing for Spurs in Pochs first season when with Mason Spurs cm position looked pretty good - even keeping Dembele on the subs bench or played at RW.

Quite happily get him back - aged 25 an play DM CM and AM with CL experience at Schalke, Club trained and still knows lots of players so not much integration time requured - would fit into Spurs quickly although not necessarily a big upgrade in any position.

If signing him allowed us to sell Sissoko ( now almost 30 so last chance of a event fee) or Lamela ( injury prone) or Wanyama we free up an Overseas Trained Player place in the squad - and that is necessary before we can sign any other overseas trained player ( which is 95% of names proposed in this thread)

And Winks looking highly promising.

However, we also had the best defensive record in the league with the best defensive pairing and still spent £30,000,000+ on Sanchez - buying when you're strong is smart.

Sure, (there were still Hope's for Onomah too), but numbers and age wise we were set in that position. Hindsight's a wonderful thing....

CB we needed bodies so that was slightly different

We weren't that short. Dier came off his best ever season with us (at centre back too) and Wimmer performed admirably as a fourth choice centre half. Not to mention we had Davies.

The problem we have is we don't have a proper centre mid partnership. Winks is probably the only proper centre mid we have, and is so injury prone. Sissoko isn't a CM, just has a good engine, Dier is a centre half wanting to be a CM, Ndombele is a more advanced midfielder and Lo Celso is an AM.

We need a proper CM partnership. Currently the defence has no protection, and we don't win the midfield battle enough. Seasons where we finished 2nd, 3rd and were going on unbeaten home records was when we had a proper CM partnership, winning the battle and controlling the game, we have never replaced Dembele. Having a proper CDM and another proper CM will allow the fullbacks to get forward more and the attackers to stay forward. We currently have Eriksen, Lo Celso, Dele and Lamela having to drop in to cover.

That should be the priority, 2 new centre mids. I'd take Bentaleb back, he can play the role well. Kalvin Phillips, Soumare, Matuidi (out of contract in the summer), Aturo Vidal, Ndidi (would cost a lot) are all players that would improve us, and offer us much needed control in the midfield.

Wimmer & Dav were never on the books at the same time and Davies (who was first choice at LB at the time due to DRs injury) had not played there yet.

Comparatively we were shorter and age was also more of an issue.

Nabil is homegrown so he would be doable. Any non homegrown have to be pending on outgoings I think.

I think the point he's making is that Sanchez wasn't that essential because we HAD Wimmer providing a 4th body, we sold him and signed Sanchez so he didn't really add any depth we didn't already have previously.

1) Lemar? For potentially 60 mil? HELL NO!!! I was so surprised after Atleti paid cosmic money for someone who was already 22.5 and had achieved absolutely nothing in an inferior league. In his last season in France he scored 3 and assisted 10 goals. 70 mil.. come on. His current value at Transfermarkt is estimated at 30 mil, which could be about right. But would not want him here even for that. Young, hungry and improving players ahead of medicore players with stalled progress any time of the year.

2) So extremely pissed off that we have not signed a DM by now. This is a huge issue in our squad, and while I have been calmer than average bloke here towards the club purchasing policy, I really assumed that our catastrophic start to season would get some lazy asses moving. I assumed that if we want to even LOOK as a serious club we'll either have deal in place for good DM by 01.01 or at least confirmed signing by the first Jan weekend. Yes, I've been Spurs fan for some time and am aware of our usual patterns... but let me say that being 14th in the table after 1/3 of season played is hardly usual situation for Spurs in past 10 years either.

But seems that nothing has changed. And with current squad and motivation levels we'll fall like house of cards against Leipzig; in competing for top 4 places and most likely even in FA Cup replay/next round against Soton. Only thing that kept me sane during Dec games was the knowing and belief that we could make some alterations in early Jan... this sanity and belief is eroding fast now. Very very dire situation.

Seri is a good little footballer, who I don’t even think was terrible last year, Fulham just tried to bring in and blend too many new players at once, whilst also trying to adapt to a new harder league, whilst also sacking a decent coach who suited the players they brought in better than the one they replaced him with.

Think this boat has sailed for us though, and he’s not tall enough for Mou anyway.

I wouldn't be too pissed off you know how the club operates when it's staring you in the face obvious it won't happen

But Dembele had that chronic hip injury - even in peak season 16-17 he is only managed 57% of PL minutes. And Poch had stated in his book he saw Dier’s future as a CB not a CM. And it was obvious to many of us Dier did not have the physical or mental dexterity to play in a “Poch” midfield. And in three years with the first team he gave Onomah 20 assorted PL minutes as a winger. And in his first year with the first team he gave Winks about 3 games.

The midfield mess we’ve been in was visible a long way back, and is one of the major reasons Poch end up with the tin tac. Not seeing it was bad enough, his solution to it was worse.
