Do we?

Did fine last season when son was up there.

As I said he wants a battering ram which is fine but long term for the club I believe the best thing to do is buy a player like zaha.

The way things are going I'm struggling to see Mourinho here next season so I'd rather not buy an average striker so he can keep playing long balls.

Only that we have player like Zaha.
Actually FAR superior to him. Name is Son.

I still can't quite get all the wanking over Zaha. Yes, he is athletcially built. And sometimes it is hard to get ball off him. But Son is far superior shooter, has far better ball control, better passer and the most important thing - he has good footballing brain (that Zaha does not seem to have).

I suppose Zaha would be useful in 4-3-3 and would play better than Moura (specially in situation where defenders would have to keep close eye also on Kane and Son, hence he'd have more room/freedom), but would that make him worth 65-80 mil EUR for us (in situation where we have 0 capable DM's and both fullback positions are huge questionmarks)? I doubt.

Another name mentioned by the Standard is Boro right back Djed Spence. Who was one of Boro's better players against us in the FA cup.

Mourinho is apparently familiar with the player since Spence and one of Mourinho's kids were in the same youth team at Fulham.

I share your opinion. If we were to get Zaha it would be because we were moving on Lucas. Not as a backup to Kane.

We need a proper number 9. Having no actual backup for our star striker that gets injured 1-2 times a season for relative long spells is just dumb.

If were going to spend money on a striker I'd go for zaha.

Son can and has often played up top despite what Mourinho claims as can zaha, then when Kane is back we would have a front three of son kane and zaha. That could be lethal.

But he wants another battering ram doesn't he to help with those long balls.
Zaha's goal scoring record is very poor, he has only reached double figures once in his career. He's overhyped, Son's goal scoring record pisses all over his as does CE's. Plus Palace want 80m for him.

That's exactly what you would expect as he is playing in a medicore Roy Hodgson side with no creativy around him.
I would expect him to shine, he's a big fish in a small pond. I'm sure if Son was in that team his goal scoring record would be much better. Plus he went to United and was shite, he hasn't proved that he can make it at the highest level.

I wouldn't in that bleak team and he is a good player, but not what we really need and besides that he is way too expensive.

Basically all Palace's opponents have to do is stop Zaha, Son wouldn't really shine either under those circumstances.

His playing in the leagues most defensive team and his stats really hold up not that I believe it's all about stats.

It wouldn't be him or Son for me it would be him with Son. Zaha creates so much space just by his sheer presence , I think it would open things up for kane , Son and even Dele.

My big reservation is something I've heard about his private life which is worrying but his always been a pro so you would have to imagine he keeps a lid on it extremely well.

Like I said, he's not made it at the highest level, he's going to be 28 this year. What little money we have, we have to spend it correctly.

HOW?
How does he "create so much space"? By... being there? We have players who can "be there"!

I have seen very little awareness / good passing / building up attacking movements by him. He is reliant on his pace and physique but as I said, his overall football brain and technique are far inferior to Son's.
Yes, I could see both of them playing together, but you are missing the point here - you'd pay crazy amount of money (club record transfer by all accounts) by player who is relying on his pace and physique but is long way off from "complete footballer"and not even close to being best / biggest attacking threat for us.

He creates space because he often gets double marked.

He scares defences which leaves us more space for our other very dangerous options.

As for the price well I wouldn't pay 70 or 80 but if they would sell for 50 plus KWP I'd rather do that than 30 or 40 million on a battering ram sort who will more than likely go the way of Jansen as kane when fit is undroppable.
