It’s not a big ask. We are shit.

If he does well and Jose wants him, we’ll buy him.
They won’t say “you were brilliant but Lo Celso/Son was better so I’m not going to sign you”.

It’s about Gedson at his best, not Winks or Dele etc at theirs.

If he's brilliant then we'll sign him if Levy thinks he's worth 40 million. the only midfielder I think we need is a DM .

Ndombele or Winks. Winks has gotten a fair few minutes recently and usually as the furthest back midfielder and has done okay.

Not sure if it is benefitial for him and his chronic ankle pain to be the defensive midfielder by default and expected to make the odd meaty tackle tho.

Winks is the furthest thing from a DM - suicide to play him there
 
Still a 4-3-3

With Lo Celso - Winks - Ndombele looks pretty tasty. The 3 of them together might be good enough defensibly and a shitload better then Lo Celso - Dier - Ndombele offensively.

I don't know, this Mourinho reinvention of football will be interesting to follow. As long it's not a new iteration of hoofball.

That doesn’t just apply to Gedson though so not sure what the big thing is.
We won’t sign anyone Levy doesn’t seem worth it, despite the myth he happily goes around spunking 10M here 30M there on players the managers haven’t asked for.
And to add to that, if he’s not good enough then why should he spend 40M?

We do need a DM, but replacing Eriksen was also necessary. As is upgrading and providing competition for Dele, Moura, Winks, Lamela and Son.

You can’t rebuild a whole team in January.
The summer will tell us even more.

Of course, we need to rotate the squad and replace ageing players - but we never seem to buy anyone that is actually capable of being better in that position.

The Dybala transfer would have been the real statement signing.

The last time we brought a player that has become a mainstay was Son & Toby in 16/17. Sissoko has played because we had no-one else, Sanchez / Moura and Aurier seem not to be trusted and have been in and out of the squad.

Certainly Lo Celso looks the real deal and Ndombele certainly should be

Yeah true. Also it's like the Sanchez for 45m or VVD for 75m. We will always go for the 45m. But back to the main point we seem to sign players like this window where most seem to think yeah not bad signings, worth a punt, or should give us more options . Rather than wow , thats going to improve our starting 11 & make us a lot stronger.
