I don’t think anyone said “you have to be Lo Celso”.
He just has to be better than Dele, Winks, Eriksen and also Moura and Son when they aren’t firing.

Our attack is garbage and our central midfield worse.
If he improves us and proves to be a motivated and important player, we will buy him.

Like Lo Celso.
He will look at how much he paid for Lo Celso and look at getting similar value. Winks is not a DM, Eriksen has gone. Either way it's going to be a big task to fill any of those shoes and become a permanent signing for 40 million.

A few more (translated!) details:

FCGB Info: The Girondins de Bordeaux have targeted Victor Wanyama as a priority

for the position of the defensive midfielder. Bordeaux would like to be loaned the Kenyan player until the end of the season while Tottenham would like a dry transfer. Negotiations in progress.
Our transfers are wet usually? Has levy been wanking over the contracts all these years?

I was checking out the Barcelona-based sports press after reading this and came across a bizarre detail in Sport, which admittedly isn't the most reliable source.

They reckon that if Real Sociedad turn down an official offer for Willian José, they have to pay 30% of that offer to the Stellar Group who own 30% of the player's rights.

Never heard of that before

Bill Madrid Bill Madrid
With the Spanish release clause rules, does the amount decrease over the length of a contract or is it the same regardless if a player has 1 or 5 years remaining on their deal?
it goes up. Then back down. Then it does a twirl and ends back the same as when it was written in the contract

Gedson isn’t a DM either.....our whole central midfield has been patched up with AMs, and I don’t really think Gedson is going to have a problem improving on the recent performances of any of our players bar Lo Celso.
And again, I don’t think he’s being asked to.

If you think it’s a big ask to improve on our midfielders then I’m not sure why you want new players there?

It’s not a big ask. We are shit.

If he does well and Jose wants him, we’ll buy him.
They won’t say “you were brilliant but Lo Celso/Son was better so I’m not going to sign you”.

It’s about Gedson at his best, not Winks or Dele etc at theirs.

Wish only the best for Vic.
Never forget him trouncing the little pea head Kante for 90 minutes at the Bridge.

Still can’t find his way out of Wanyamas pocket and has been half the player ever since.
I think it was Airfixx Airfixx suggested we’ve a jinx at DM

top players getting career debilitating issues

really bad luck for all concerned

big vic was a bloody awesome DM. But again short lived

well do well to get someone as good

Hence the need for a quality DM
Yeah I’m guessing that’s a summer project to be fair but you never know.
As I’ve said, if Ndombele can stay on the pitch for a few weeks on the spin, I’d be very interested to see him and Lo Celso in the middle.
I’m even thinking we might see Tanganga there.

Striker is paramount, because there will be games we will need to bring one on. We all know that.
