My only issue with this chap, and I say it as someone who has never seen him play, is whether or not he's good enough.

I don't want any more players that 'can do a job'. We've had them for fucking decades. I only want us to sign genuinely excellent players that we would want, regardless of our injury situation.

I do get the Llorente comparison, and I liked that tall handsome bastard, but that sort of signing still speak to us just waiting for Harry to come back and then flogging him like a dead horse again. We need an excellent second striker that we might even choose to play, when Harry is fit.
Well this is the January conundrum fighting against what you want to do long term. You can:

1) Pick up whatever dude is available now regardless of fit/how good he is, just some guy that wears a #9, and hope he scores goals over the next 3.5 months.
2) Get creative with a front 3/4 and rely on playmaking from Lo Celso/Ndombele to create goals in lieu of a striker that will be bought in the summer.

It's the same with a DM. And its probably why we want loans with an option to buy, which is why we brought Gedson on. Bergwjin was bought because he fits the mold of what the club wants to do (age, production, data, potential, etc..).

Shit-canning a manager mid-season, especially one that had been so ingrained with the club for over five years, is a huge change. Who knows what the exact plan was last summer outside of buy some fucking midfielders and guys Poch wanted, which we did. We are also selling players we don't want and loaning out youth, which is great.

Put another way, if Jose is not comfortable not bringing in a #9 we will know about it sooner or later or he is really on his best behavior.

The year is 2080

Spurs have just bolstered their ranks by signing another box to box midfielder and tricky but inconsistent winger

An 87 year old Harry Kane is still leading the line with 77 year old youngster Troy parrot set to be sent out on loan to gain some experience

The club are thought to be happy with their attacking options going forwards

Hojberg is a solid player. Obviously an upgrade on Dier/Wanyama/Skipp (loan him out) and would be good competition for Winks, with more natural defensive instincts.

I would not be against this and it would soften the blow of not getting a striker in. Hojberg, Ndombele and Lo Celso is a VERY good midfield 3.

That said, seems unlikely Southampton would let their captain go at this stage of this season. They can still get good money for him if he leaves in the summer.

A month would be reasonable but the guy is on record saying it takes two years, and we’ve seen the evidence.
Yes, Sammy we have. Look at what we were in 14/15, decent team but leaky and nothing like 15/16 where we really started to have an identity and then 16/17 where we were unquestionably the best team in all but the final table result. Two years!

I'm sure you'll continue to misrepresent his point or continue to fail to recognize what he actually meant because A) you're Sammy or B) every thing exists in your world to mischaracterize, misconstrue, or misunderstand in order for you to bend it to fit your twisted logic or argument. In retrospect that looks like 1 reason.

Or Sammy you could be more charitable to the best manager (results and play) you've had in your time and consider his point was A) made in a second language B) supported by empirical evidence C) a plea to DL to invest in players worth the time investment so that what we got out the other end would help us in our endeavors.
