Ya that's a huge cloud over the summer. It's going to gain steam in April because apparently no one really knows what it means. The FA is also pushing for more domestic players on the squad so there is alot of dynamics in the background which could cause absolute chaos.
The FA have very little support but they do have the authority, the EPL won't want to weaken their 'brand' by losing top foreign stars and right now they control the purse strings, if the FA overrule them it will be a costly mistake for everyone.

Clubs would have to offload expensive foreigners at a discount and English players already at stupid premiums would go through the roof ...

Real Sociedad want €25 million. Apparently there's a clause in his current contract that says RS have to pay the agents who still own 30% of the player a penalty of 30% of the value of any formal offer
£18-19 million isn't outrageous for a player who has been a Top 6 La Liga team's top scorer over his three and a half years there.
Thanks for that but AFAIK there is no bidding war and we are the only show in town?

I think our original offer was £12 million. I can't see Levy offering much more than that.
I think we're only open to a genuine stop gap, that we will sell for a pittance in a year or so.
Not sure about a pittance but we have yet to turn a profit on any striker we have bought in recent years and in fact have taken about a £40-50 mill hit.
So treading a safe path is the way for me.

I'd rather we didn't take that approach, but so be it.
The Willian Jose situation is weird because he's 28. That's not ideal, but he's not Giroud (33). We can probably get him for relatively low wages (he's on £47,500/wk now) for 4.5 years (his current contract is through June 2024) and it really wouldn't be an huge concern.

We are £9m apart - bump it up to £16.8m (€20m), give him a bump to £60k/wk. That's £30m total between transfer and wages. If we actually rotate Kane and use him it will be worth it.
