I'm going to stick my neck out. Instead of sitting on there hands going no one can make us better like our scouts. Buy Jarred Bowen from Hull he can have Lamela's squad place. Or we can just let him go to Leicester and complain. This is the first in my series of obvious stuff we can do to improve but won't.

Not sure how good but if Liverpool can pick up cheap bargains why can't we?

Levy doesn't look for bargains so much as adversaries he can defeat and humiliate in silly season armed combat.

Every club chairman in the world is onto his bullshit now.

Levy is very very good at what he does, but I think the evidence that what he does is the way to operate a major football club in 2019 is dubious at best.

Think of it this way: We got Ndombele for 62M Euro, City got Rodri for 70M. Similar assets, I definitely rate them both, win for Spurs, right?

Well, we locked ourselves in a protracted dance with Lyon for over a full year bluffing and bullshitting and bullying our way to agreement. City activated the release clause and wrapped it up in five minutes. Never mind the direct fiscal cost of all that work, what is the opportunity cost of all those man-hours of our technical staff and Daniel Levy personally? Imagine how much else could have been done.

The time and energy of our club leadership is worth a lot of money, and I'm not sure we value it very well in our transfer dealings.

He’s very good - he would have been the perfect signing for Levy. Highly talented and very cheap. Can dribble, assist and score and presses well as well. The Japanese Emile Heskey if you will.

On a serious note, the guy is class - bit gutted he’s going to Liverpool.

And there you have it. Of course there is risk but spotting talent and being able to grab it cheaply is fcuking clever, especially if it works out.

And yes Alli but who else in the last decade? Maybe Foyth but we shall see.

The only but significant issue for all these youngish prospects is playing time. If good enough no problem they will push themselves into the squad and then team.

If it's potential and hope then waiting for a chance can at times dampen the product.

I favour a scouting network that finds us 2 or 3 such players every 5 years.

Modric 18m, Eriksen 12m, Bale 10m, Rose 2m, Walker 3m, Son 22m, Dier 5m, Vertonghen 10m, Alderweireld 12m, Wanyama 12m, Dembele 15m

Until about3 years ago when we sacked our recruitment dept, put Poch in charge of scouting and Liverpool’s new recruitment analytics department got into gear, we were possibly one of the shrewder recruiters in the PL.

It’s odd that levy hasn’t acted on this yet, it’s plain to see.

Levy is a businessman. Not a football fan.

Those are yester-years prices. We would be very lucky to find that sort of talent in that price range these days. Levy still hasn't caught up with inflation, so we might not see as many incomings as we'd like

They were still great value, and below what our peers were paying, even yesteryear.

And prices have risen exponentially, but there is still relative value out there.

We didn't scout Alli, every man his dog knew he had potential. Wasn't it Pleat who persuaded Levy to bite? He would have been at Liverpool if Stevie G had been arsed to get up and greet him.
