its worse if we refused to match what they can pay him. Saliba + upamecano for a combined 60-70 mil with Sanchez would've ensured quality in our defence for many years to come

I dunno, but we were widely reported to be in for him.... Mabe the loanback didnt work for us and we just figured we could just buy someone else this summer instead.

still cant believe how we let Woolwich have a free run at Saliba..at 27 million he is such a bargain!
God Zeus I hope this is merely Ligue 1 being shit and no chance he's good.

"Across the whole of 2019 to date, Saliba has started 13 times in Ligue 1, with St-Etienne winning 11 of those fixtures – a win rate of 84.6%, conceding just six goals in those games – 0.46 goals per game.

St-Etienne have played 19 Ligue 1 matches in 2019 without Saliba starting, winning just five of those – meaning their win rate drops to 26.3%, conceding 28 goals at an average of 1.47 per game."

City don't play many 20 year olds - Garcia, Angelino, and Foden hardly getting a kick even Jesus gets a limited playing time and he'd walk into most sides ... when you have older more experienced >50m players in every position it's hard to bring in youngsters ... and Pep doesn't take risks.

Not saying City wouldn't want him but looking at how high value juniors have done at City - Cancelo 65m can't get an EPL game - who would they drop for Upamecano? Laporte, Stones, Otamendi ... Pep just doesn't take those risks, but is Pep even staying?

Upamecano (20) would not be first choice at City - get a grip
He would be ahead of both stones and otamendi, I mean look at the mistakes otamendi has been making since Laporte was sidelined and stones was poor even before his injury. It’s why they are in this “mess” in the first place.

Uppy is head and shoulders above everything else they have apart from Laporte. Better defender, better passer and better on the ball in general.

Just go and get Gedson from Benfica instead, I assume Weigl will end up replacing him.

This is who I want, I really really hope we are wise to this guy. I’m hoping if we talk about him enough on this forum then the links will just wish themselves in to existence like with Ndombele lol.

You would hope that Mourinho is keeping tabs on him given the Portuguese connection.

We don't need another player like him. We are already struggling to integrate Ndombele and LoCelso. We need a pure defensive midfielder

I thought JM came out and said the exact opposite.

Makeshift LWB at times recently but yet to see him at LFB.

Indeed he did:

Asked whether he sees Sessegnon as more of an attacking player rather than a defender, Mourinho said: ‘In this moment, yes.

‘I think in this moment he is a winger on the left, can also play on the right, can learn progressively and even developing physically, which he is doing.

todd1882 todd1882 and the truth have a somewhat fractious relationship.

So how many pages before we make a signing ? I’m going all out and saying a DM on page 342 and Bale on page 978 , page 978 we talk about the most cost effective way of getting to Turkey come the summer :mourear:

How many 20 year old CB's regularly start for top clubs .... ever wondered why?

He'd be a great signing but he would not be anywhere near EPL ready ... give the lad a chance, placing ridiculous prices and unrealistic expectations on kids isn't a great strategy ... head and shoulders above the defence that has conceded the fewest goals in the last two seasons ... are you serious?
