I don’t believe you watch Serie A to the point you have seen enough of Inter Milan to form a conclusive opinion on Vecino.
Sorry I just don’t.

I love football and watch 5 or 6 PL games on a weekend.
Then there’s the CL and the odd Champo game.

I don’t believe you people watch enough random leagues to have the same insight as you do on Spurs players. Because to do that, you would have to watch them as much as you do Spurs.

I think you play computer games. It’s a bit silly pretending otherwise.

That’s why you seem to think Dele and Sessegnon are playing well, because the career graphs look good
I agree with the thrust of you point Sammy but there are a few that watch other leagues. I don't do much Serie A because of time and the league is shit IMO (though bus-conductor bus-conductor says my opinion is shit so it could go either way). But if a person picks a team to support in each league of interest and watches each of their games plus the games of the big/super teams in those leagues you get a very nice feel for the talent in other leagues.

So I support Valencia in La Liga. If I watch their game plus the Barca and RM live game or replays etc that is 3 random teams I see every week in La Liga. In the past few seasons there are other teams of interest like Las Palmas (Setien), Betis (Setien), Getafe (Bordelas), and Sevilla (Banega) that I catch a game when I can. If they play good football then I like watching.

In the French league I support Lyon and unfortunately have been hoodwinked into following a basement dweller because a friend supports them. I also try to check out Lille and Dijon when I can because they have players of interest.

Finding 1 team to support in a league is an easy way to see all the teams at least twice. And since you know 'your' team you have a control group to gauge the other teams/players. Some my get bitty and pull the 1 team shit and that'd be fine for them but I'd thank them very much to allow me to watch and appreciate football how I'd prefer and not how they'd prefer...actually I'd tell them to go fuck themselves but I'm being nice here.

But I know nothing of this Vecino character...but he's shit.:allitongue:

edit: Getafe don't play good football but it's a 90 minute cage match and that's kinda cool.

Holy fuck I just realized something (I'm gonna sound like a idiot):

We are in the CL knock out stages facing the very best teams in Europe, where every win requires 110% and we won't even have a proper striker to play. Not a single one for all of those games.

I don't mind not having a striker and having to do a "Plan B type of game plan" against the Middlesboros or even Watfords of this world but damn not having a striker for those European nights sounds downright irresponsible.
We're going to get a striker in.

If Kane is out for the rest of the season I don't see a scenario where we do not get one in.

This year we might not be, but we don't need 11 new starting players to be there next season.

Also finding good Full Backs in general is really hard, there are less world class full backs than wingers imho
But we have had enough time to have found a decent replacement walker was sold what 3 seasons ago but the club and management decided no one was needed, then trippier was deemed not good enough but is tearing it up in Spain something somewhat is clearly flawed.

With Kane likely to be out for the rest of the season, and likely out of the Euros, Eriksen seemingly gone and Sessegnon playing LB over Rose that gives us currently :

Striker - Son
AM's - Moura, Dele, Lo Celso, Lamela (4 of them).......

and the only youngster who might step up is Parrott but that's a few appearances off the bench realistically.

Priority has to be goals from a new striker and an AM this TW.

We'll never get through the rest of the season with 5 players covering 4 positions - and not strong enough in CM to play 3 there either.

This is a fair take but my take on that summer (actually started in the spring the season before) was that we needed big change and if we didn't Poch would get fired for his loyalty to underperforming or useless players. The run-in for 2017-18 was not very good. You could tell the squad was getting stale. Five Five can back me on this but it was clear that it wouldn't go on and it didn't.

Some will point to the points haul early that year but it was our play that was awful. And then it caught up to us in the second half and people still ignored it because of the CL run. The Sammy-summer was a killer and now we've gone another summer without the necessary change but folks are now seeing the disaster that set its roots 2 and 3 seasons ago.

People like Davies and Dier are not good enough to justify their non-HG status (whatever league or CL stuff is affected) in the team. Dele has always done my nut in. Dembele always needed a backup/rotation because of his known issues. After Wimmer left we always needed a left-footed CB. Harry has always needed competition. CE had always needed a player with his skillset but with the other half too. These things ahve always been needed and not just this summer or the last 18 months.

The problem is the hoard of happy clappers won't allow you to say it when you recognize it because "why can't you enjoy football" or you're a 'closet gooner' or 'you have an agenda against player X, Y or Z' etc etc. But then all bets are off when their clueless asses recognize it. And then it's all anger anger anger from them. Somebody's gotta pay for their team being shit.

Our team wasn't good 18 months ago and was hanging on by a thread. Some of us saw it and wanted big change...it didn't happen. In fact literally nothing happened and we were the first team to get Sammy-fied. And this summer we got a little something but not close to the painful rebuild we were promised and then lost our manager who also recognized the need for a painful rebuild as he repeated it every chance he got.

It's the players; some suck, some are overrated, some are old but most had to go. Our most promising players now are two new guys (1 always hurt), a passionate old guy (always hurt) and an academy product. That says many of the rest could and should have gone.
Good post as well. I think it's very clear that in the sammy-summer I said we needed signings & that team wasn't good enough. So that's not hindsight if I said it all along. It's others who said who do you drop? We don't need anyone, spending is a waste of time, we can't compete with the big spenders etc. What you said in the post is exactly what I thought would happen & it did & now we are in a mess. I actually did think it would happen sooner but we managed to scrape top 4 & CL final strangely. But now we are seeing where we are actually at. I agreed with poch on the painful rebuild too.

I am a fan of Eriksen & wanted him to stay. I thought he was under paid for how well he performed for us. As I was a big fan of his I hoped he stayed & with more investment be part of our team that goes to the next level
Same with Toby. But theres no point having an unhappy player. So if he had said he is 100% going to leave & wants to try a new country etc, then I'd have been all for cashing in.
As you say with kane, I am a huge fan of his & obviously want him to stay. But if he becomes unhappy & Is determined to leave, then cash in before his form dips & he ends up leaving on a free or earlier for a lot cheaper as his contract winds down.
Also with the Eriksen situation. Despite people saying the club handled it well, I bet levy will see it as a failure & will think he could have handled it better.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single youth watcher recommend Paris Maghoma gets game time.

So when a youth product gets given a chance and does well, that proves that people who say that the best youth players should get chances are wrong to suggest that?

Much better for evolution of the team to give experienced purchased players like Aurier and Sissoko that development time eh? We are so much better off now.
You bit! Nice.

No BC what I'm saying is 1st team minutes are for those that warrant it. Tanganga warranted it (or injury serendipity or free hit) and took his chance. Then when given the next op out of position he absolutely snatched it which is something ALL of your other boys did not. Fact! And he will get another start prolly this weekend.

Onomah was s'posedly ready but didn't take his chances even against Wycombe, Colchester, etc etc. Not trying to hear out of position stuff. Surely you know your position/argument has been weakened by Tanganga's performance right? That is what I expect a player to do with they are ready, show he belongs against PL competition and show he is above Champo players. None of your others have done this. When they do I will sing their praises but they would be better served if every supposed academy product's praises weren't sung. They can't all be special because then none of them are special or ready.

And perhaps if we actually spent some money down there instead of on things that look good on a balance sheet we would produce some players. As we know youth players, like undeveloped land, have a fraction of the value of the finished product. Are we loading up on 15 and 16 year olds pre-Brexit? Of course we aren't because that would take planning and money with no short term ROI. As I said yesterday, and I hope I don't get pulled up on it, it feels a bit weird.

Cancelo has moved around quite a bit in recent years. I'm sure he'd like to go to a club where he can settle in and not have to battle with another top RB. We can offer that plus I'm sure working with Jose is appealing to him. I could definitely see him having interest in coming here but no clue if City is at all willing to sell to us.
If City are willing to take £40 million hit on his fee and subsidize his wages to make us better then let's do it!

Im amazed he’s agreeing to go no rather than wait for a big payday in the summer. Maybe he’s had little or no indication any team wants him then. Certainly looks that way so is cutting his losses and going now.

Hopefully we tie it up before deadline day so we can put the money to good use.

Probs due to Inters position in the table, could go there and win the league within months
