The lack of DM links. Could it be that Mourinho doesn't want DMs? On the other hand, why has he played Dier so much? I don't fucking understand.
Would be very strange if José Mourinho of all managers doesn't see that we need a proper DM in the team, the problem is that they are rare and difficult to bring in in January; a player like Ndidi would massively improve our midfield, but where do you get one for a reasonable fee this window?

Consider the galvanising effect the likes of Palacios, Parker, Sandro Dier & Wanyama had in their respective pomp.....

An underappreciated position. Particularly in a league such as ours.

Vic was becoming so fucking good prior to his injury. :(

It’s an essential role and almost every top team has a top DM. Liverpool have Fabinho, City have Rodri, Leicester have a Ndidi.

It gives protection in front of the back 4 but also allows more freedom to attacking players and full backs to go forward safe in the knowledge they have a keen eye looking after them so it doesn’t just improve the defence.

You can play a midfield 3 without a DM and allow each player to pick up some defensive work but I generally think it’s much easier to get a balanced team with a out and out DM.

A good DM needs to have a good passing range and be press resistant as DM’s are often targeted by opposition presses, they need to have great defensive awareness (obviously!) and in the modern game a great engine enabling them to be proactive.

Wanyama has obviously got some sort of knee issue or something and Dier just isn’t near the standard. I do hope we can get someone like Sangaré in or even hijack Sander Berg’s deal.

On a serious note - I'm almost 100% convinced we will sign some kind of a striker before end of tomorrow

There is no way a manager like Jose would accept going into the rest of the season without a #9

I'm ok with us not buying a striker.

The mistake was not having cover in the first place. I don't want us to buy some donkey to try and chase a target that's likely passed anyway.

If skipping now means that in the Summer, we can go all on someone like Jovic, then that's good.

We could have gone for Jovic already - he's played like 4 minutes all season

Son up top is hardly the end of the world, is it?

Now we have Stevie the wing wonder to cover his Attacking LW place...

I'm still happy with that and Parrott as emergency 'throw smeone on', rather than Giroud personally.

Son is now 2 in 2 and has a fairly good goals ratio, just need to aim for his chest, not contesting headers up against 6ft3 defenders...

Exactly ....I think it’s a bit of a joke if we miss out, and unacceptable that it’s come to this.

But at the end of the day what you gonna do?
“Take a break” or “give up on football for a bit” in true fairweather fandom?

No, we’ll all be there on Saturday still thinking we can beat City. And why can’t we.
