At the start of the window, especially in the light of Kane's latest injury, almost everyone to a man on here was saying that not bringing a recognised striker in would be unforgivable.

Now it's dawning on people that it might actually happen, its like, ok, maybe we can do without.....its not like going to the corner shop for a loaf of bread......we can always promote the youth or play Moura up top........Levys doing his best you know.......Best to wait til Summer and see who's available...... We've spent 6 billion already on the rebuild.....

Not at all JT. I agree we need a striker because Kane seems to have an injury issue at some point every season. I also suspect that this is in part to him being over used (although it does seem that if Kane says he wants to play, he plays)
I just don’t want us to buy someone like William Jose, the fingerbanger or, God forbid, Giroud as a stop gap measure.
We’ve been there with Janssen and Nando.
If we are buying someone to replace/compliment Kane, then it has to be the right fit long term. That is the hard part. Because we aren’t like United. They can afford to throw money at shite until they get it right (& they are still struggling to get it right now).
Our ticket prices are not relevant to what we can afford to compete with clubs who are much bigger financially than us. It’s because we are trying to bridge that gap that we have built the new stadium and charge high prices.
We still can’t compete financially with the likes of United or City.
I want us to strengthen where we need to. Believe me, I really do. But if we can bring youth players through then that is a model to be applauded, not scorned.
If we spend £30-40 million and get a dud striker, then I think that’s worse than not getting one at all.

Think you're being very negative ... here's a quick reminder of another player with muscle issues

in case you don't know that's Ronaldo, he got the muscle problem sorted and has had only one major injury since (59 days torn ligament in 16/17) ... and he plays even more than Kane.

So in short Levy's after signing Douglas Bader?

The last decent striker we signed? Anyone care to help? God bless Harry Kane for somehow falling to us.

I guess it would be Adebayor. Thinking back, the bastard was always up and down but when he showed up, he was a player. Fact is, we're shite at signing strikers. Even Ade was a loan to start off

Need to get this done and he needs to hit the ground running......it’s vital we sign players in January that will make a difference to this season.
Jose has said several times Parrot isn’t ready for the challenge yet, so it would be pretty desperate to have to throw him in anyway.

Other than one or two fans, I don’t think many of us are willing to wait until the end of next season for any striker to show his quality.....needs to sign today and make a difference on Sunday to be fucking honest.

No good everyone looking at Haaland scoring 5 goals in his first week as an example, but then saying our players need months and months and years to actually help this team.
Sick of it, and sick of the pampering.....Ndombele I’m looking at you.
Man the fuck up. Sessegnon I don’t give two fucks if you’re only 19. Cost 25M and isn’t to young to earn a kings ransom, so try actually doing something on a football pitch.
Same for Gedson, same for Bergwijn.....you’re here to make us better.

Off with the cotton wool, sign a fucking striker, I’ve really had enough of this period we are in.
Just be better Spurs....

Hence Giroud, Slimani etc make sense. Kane backup is like a goalie backup, most likely not play 80% of the time. We will not invest in a top target man striker in their prime, just like we will not spend big on a goalie backup

I just can’t get my head round that greasy fucker Giroud in our shirt and lining the pockets of the chavs- however little he costs (& he must be proper shit these days if they would unload him to a top 4 rival, & a hated rival at that). I’m sure the impartial and rational people would see all the benefits and it’s not like we haven’t done it before. It just feels retrograde and dirty these days to take on a player like that.
we absolutely need a striker, but a has been stop gap like Giroud or a panic signing that may end up like Soldado or Jannsen makes me wonder if we’d be better off promoting through the ranks (Parrott) &/or just holding our horses and getting the right one in even if it’s not today?
can we afford £40 million now and another £40 million plus if our saviour turns to shit? Where does that leave our funds for a DM? I just take the view that this season is a transition 🤢 while Mourinho sees how deep our pockets are & if Levy can match his ambitions to re establish himself as one of the top coaches in world football.

Liverpool seem to have performed pretty well without a striker. Can Alli step up and be 'coached' to play in the more advanced role? Or do you really think Giroud etc would offer more?

SON - ALLI - MOURA
vs
MANE - FIRMINO - SALAH

Our issue has typically been our ability to get the ball up the field quickly enough before defences get organised.

LO CELSO - NDOMBELE - GEDSON
vs
WJANALDUM - HENDERSON - OX

On paper, I like our midfield 3 better. However, all new players and it will take some time before they learn to play together.

A decent striker added to our activity thus far, would make this a very good transfer window imho.
Pleased at the way "in and outs" have panned out overall.

What's easier - get a stubborn 50 something manager to change the tactics he's used for 20 years.....

Or, just sign a striker.

A decent proven striker sure .... but a last minute panic buy just to say we have a new striker .... that never works out well ... look at the strikers signed in January ...

Kaba Diawara - the new Anelka lol
Lewis Grabban
Cenk Tosun
Andrej Kramaric
Andy Carroll
Wilfried Bony
Alexis Sanchez
Steven Naismith
Guido Carrillo
Will Hoskins
Savio Nsereko

That's eleven different EPL clubs with absolute shockers of striker signings in January ... there have been some good ones Suarez, Zaha (to Palace) Sturridge but far more bad ones .....

If we're not 100% sure we should wait until the summer, in Spurs terms it's not that far away.
