Athletico aren't letting Costa go because of how awesome he has been for them. Awful person and bad player I am not sure what the point would be to bring him in other than Jose loving him. He has shown zero signs of being better than Vinicius at this point in his career so why not just go with the younger, better player who isn't a complete piece of shit?

I can't comment on Olise as I haven't seen him to make a judgement but reading about him he fits the profile of what we need, a young, creative MF that can play multiple positions and would seemingly be fine sitting on the bench and being used as a sub. Much more useful than Moura, Lamela, Alli, Winks, Sissoko.

I’m all for bringing Diego Costa in reasonable wages.

Why?

He has had 7, 5, 5, 2 goals the last 4 seasons and is clearly past it. He offers nothing other than goals and clearly is not good enough to replace Kane or play ahead of Vinicius. I don't see a huge need for a 3rd string striker who sucks, is 32 and is a terrible person.

Problem is, we have already invested heavily in Lo Celso. We didn't pay all that money for him to sit on the bench.

For 65m transfer and 200k a week, Ndombele should be the first name on the team sheet and should be the player dictating the pace and pulling the strings of the entire team. Right now, after 1.5 seasons he still cannot complete 90 minutes and the coach won't trust him to play in a box to box role. He is nowhere near the Dembele/Modric player we needed; and he doesn't have the passing range as a number 10.

As the 'best coach in the world' Mourinho and his team should be improving these players.

Its a squad game these days, no chance that Ndombele or any other player will start every match, or even appear on the bench.

So rather than thinking about a first 11, probably better to think of a first 18 who are most likely to start. with other squad players on top.

And in turn that means some highly paid players will sometimes be on the bench,

Games are far more frequent and intensive than in the 70's (when only one sub was allowed) but Don Revie's Leeds often had an outfield England international on the bench - that in a days when there were almost no overseas players in the league and England players were the best in the league - so top players on the bench have a history going back 40 years.

Costa has Mendes all over it for a tight fisted business man I’d be surprised if he was bullied by Jose and his friendship Mendes just get one of his players a pay day. The guy is a horrible person not sure what Vini would make of it as they’d only be room for one of them on the bench. Not to mention some of the other players who were around when we played against Costa. Bad move all round!

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to try to sign a number of Tottenham players, including England midfielder Dele Alli, 24, and 34-year-old France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, if the Argentine is confirmed as Paris-St Germain's boss. (Eurosport)
