It's so strange that Tuchel got sacked. He was really successful each season with PSG. He won everything and reached the CL final some months ago... It would surprise me if Pochettino would perform better at PSG... But yeah, it would be a good opportunity to sell Dele to them. He fits perfectly into this squad with Neymar Mbappe and so on.
He's had a big and long falling out with the PSG sporting director and the bad blood seems to have spread to the players now. Just like it did at Dortmund.

Eriksen is finished as a top player, don’t know how anyone who has watched him at Spurs and Inter over the last two seasons could come to any other conclusion.

Priority should be a Sissoko replacement, that's what keeps us away from the title at the moment. We can't keep a player on the pitch just because he cover spaces. He offer little defensively and nothing in the attack.

The pathway to a side that Mourinho could compete for the league with next year seems relatively clear to me.

  • Skipp returns to back up Hojbjerg
  • Buy top level center half as competitor and eventual replacement to Alderweireld
  • Buy box to box midfielder to fill Sissoko’s current position, Sissoko becomes backup
  • Buy starting RW, move Bergwijn to rotation option
  • Bonus points: replace Doherty with young RB with potential to supplant Aurier
I think this is actually reasonably feasible considering the number of attractive options we can sell. Winks, Dele, Sanchez should all bring back at least 25-30m. They are all young internationals with good pedigrees. Plus additional potential sales are Moura, Doherty, and Lamela. None of these guys are deadwood, there’s value there.

That will round out our squad for sure. We need more firecracker type players like Lamela and Pierre. Just need to change the attitude and mentality of the squad.

The devil is in the detail (or in this case Club trained and Other association trained players and then the size of the squad - which numbers 24 with one HG player short).

Currently we have :

Club Trained - 4 Kane, Bale, Winks, Whiteman,
Other Assoc Trained 3 Hart, Dele, Clarke
Overseas Trained Players (17) : Lloris, Aurier, Doherty, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon, Davies, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Lucas, Ndombele, Son, Bergwijn, Vinicius, Lamela

Under 21's who could become Club trained players include Tanganga and Skipp.

So if you want to :.
  • Buy top level center half as competitor and eventual replacement to Alderweireld
  • Buy box to box midfielder to fill Sissoko’s current position, Sissoko becomes backup
  • Buy starting RW, move Bergwijn to rotation option
  • Bonus points: replace Doherty with young RB with potential to supplant Aurier
you need to sell an existing overseas trained player to be able to buy each new player. Who ?

In practice if we want to upgrade a player such as Sissoko, Aurier etc, the answer is likely to be to sell the player being upgraded (ie sell Sissoko, Aurier etc).

Perhaps the exception maybe to sell Sanchez to bring in another CB to eventually replace Alderweireld - but given we need to sell an overseas trained player to create a space in the squad for Rodon it seems more likely that Sanchez sale will be to create the space for Rodon.

And for those wanting to sell Dele or upgrade Clarke - who are the HG players we want to buy as the pool of those is not large (although one of them might be Sessegnon if we consider him to be a good enough LB/LWB for Spurs).

And will Bale be good enough to be retained next season ? Jury out atm for me, If Bale goes we may need to keep Winks to keep our player numbers up.

We also need to bring in a goal scoring AM, as otherwise we are too reliant on Kane/Son

By no means impossible, but could be tricky to achieve in one summer.

How is that box to box midfielder going to protect Aurier? Because if you leave him unprotected then we are going to start shipping a shitload of goals.

Sissoko still plays against the tougher attacking teams, but we need a more dynamic box to box player for versatility and against lesser teams.

I love Sissoko for the record, but he’s 31 and we need versatility. All about the squad you know :mourthumb:

Despite being born in Dublin, the Irishman counts as a homegrown player with both the Premier League and UEFA because he joined Wolves from Bohemians when he was just 18 and played for the Midlands club for three seasons including the season in which he turned 21, which fits in with the homegrown requirements.

Not January related, but IMO we should start to look for a young GK that can be our future no.1 soon. Lloris worries me with his recent form. Purchasing an established GK now can be expensive. Getting someone young with high potential and loan him (preferably to PL club for that HG status), can save us a lot of hassle down the road.
