Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Talking about the winter window makes you realise just how sh*t the summer window was.

Can't believe the cult are still celebrating it.

Please link to current celebrations...... 👍

p.s. Every fucking year the moment the window shuts people start talking about the next..... Signing players is all that swathes of modern football fans think about. It's anything but exclusive to our club or this summer.

Look at Toney, this guy was kicking around at League One two years ago, now he's worth 30M+, there has to be more people like that.

Foolishly released by Newcastle who thought they had better striker options.

Picked up by Peterborough for a song (under £1m) who know good young prospects when they see them, polished up for 2 season - getting scoring numbers of one every 2 matches

Brentford looked and decided Toney was a bargain even at £10m (a kings ransom for Peterborough) ........ rumoured we were interested but as a back up to Kane without any assured playing time.

Sadly its a market Spurs used to be active in - buying good prospects from EFL but haven't done much in recent years (Dele from MK Dons. Clarke from Leeds being the exceptions), but imo we should be, even if we buy, and loan out before bringing into the first team squad.

I'd happily add Moura and Ndombele. Just bored with the same old players doing the same old thing. Knock it all down and start again.
A bit like I just said about GLC, I'd have Lucas in the squad but as a potentially CAM rather than RW.
For different reasons than GLC tho... Lucas doesn't have much technical ability, but he can press and harass opposition into mistakes. That is useful against many teams.

Ndombele can't be allowed to leave unless we bring in another creative mid. He is by far our most talented midfielder. We need to find a manager who can motivate him, maybe through Burger King vouchers.

No, he has technical ability, so can thread through good passes when pressed.
However, his end product has not been existent, so play him in midfield rather than RW as Nuno tried.
No, another with injury issues, never fully fit, usually looks uninterested, more passionate about playing for his country. Technical ability means nothing when a player doesn't truly care and actually even when he has played he has shown only average technical ability. We are so good at keeping players for too long forever in the hope of them finally proving their worth. Believe me LoCelso won't, get rid asap before his value tumbles even further.

This is all pointless. Even if Rice, Toney and Neves showed up in Jan we’d still have poor tactics and problems in the background. We are Man United a few seasons ago where they just bought and bought and nothing happened. Even a top squad isn’t going anywhere. We need an elite manager then to build the team around his ideas, we don’t have that.

The squad is still horribly imbalanced. We have a whole bunch of left wingers/left sided attackers/midfielders and only the wildly inconsistent Moura as a natural right sided player. I think it's very unfair to count Scarlett as a proper member of the first team squad, so we have only one specialist striker.

In central midfield I would only count Ndombele as a playmaker. He's pretty unreliable so we need at least one (probably two) playmakers. As of now we often get completely outpassed and can't really connect midfield and attack.

Romero looks promising but there a huge drop off after him. RB still early to tell. LB is a problem with Reguilon being a pretty awful defender and Davies just awful period. Sess still young and mostly injured.

We could get a problem at GK if Lloris decides that enough is enough. Gollini doesn't look like a starter so far.

Priority should be: CM (x2), ST, CB, RW, LB, GK

I agree. Most important thing we can do is get the right manager. But a lot of these players have been stinking up the place under 3 managers now and have either become stale or even possibly disruptive. Doherty, Davies, Sanchez, Winks, Ndombele, Alli, Moura, Kane all need to be moved on for one reason or another.
