He plays for Wolves and they're shit, work it out.
For fuck sake, if we are going for a player and pay 30 or 40 million, he should be able to do something impactful even on his own. Even if surroundings are utter crap!

But Traore can run, dribble and play physically.. yet it does not convert to anything if he is chronically unable to put away chances or pick out teammate to do that.

I agree that between Traore and Bergwijn, Traore would do more. But it is like improving your 100 meters record form 15 second to 14 while preparing for olympics. It is in right direction but hopelessly small improvement.

I dunno, Conte had Victor Moses as RWB in a title winning team. If Traore was going cheap-ish, I'd say he's a better player than Moses and his raw athelticism is pretty awesome for a wing-back in the Premier League. Would be levels above what we currently have in that position.

Lamptey is the man I hope we go for, but he will cost a lot of dough I think. Worth it though.

He's definitely not a better option as WB, that big top heavy beefcake is not designed to twist and turn while peddling backwards with nippy fuckers running at him, he'll topple over. Moses was far more agile for the defensive side of things.

I don't rate Traore as a footballer but with Wolves now apparently willing to yield on their absurd price for him, I would probably take him for £15m. He has zero end product but he disturbs opponents and would attract defenders away from Kane and Son. I think we could probably sell Bergwijn and buy Traore for the same price.

He's one of the best dribblers in the league and the stats reflect that. His ball control is excellent, so he's not just pace and muscles, and the fundamentals of a technically gifted player are all there. He was trained in La Masia ffa, he's not just a kick and run player.

His issues are he can't shoot for shit and he makes terrible decisions, but technically he's otherwise very good.

What does the dribbling give us when he dribbles past 2 players but then runs out of pitch, misplaces the pass or picks wrong player to pass the ball to?

And what does it matter where someone is trained if he cannot make a right decision or pass/cross accurately? Please explain how his training center will benefit Spurs?

I agree - he is fast, he is strong and his ball control is good. But that is not enough. You still have to be able to pick right thing what to do with the ball and then execute it. Which he is unable to do. One good season does not prove much for player that is already 25. He has not replicated these numbers last season, will not replicate them this year and in none of the following either. His peak season is done and soon forgotten. I would happily bet on the fact he will never achieve such numbers of goals + assists in EPL again.

Here's a game Wolves came back from 2-0 down in, I actually watched the whole match. If you are boiling things down to simple assists stats you honestly don't have a clue about the game.

1st goal came from a corner he won, 2nd goal you can see the ball he played across and he won the free kick they scored the 3rd from.

His goal and shot creation is far higher than both Lucas and Bergwijn per 90 mins in a far worse side...and for all the players lots will think are 'better', they will cost double what he is likely to go for in January.

I'd be cool with him taking over from Moura, he's better at what he does. Gets teams upfield, opens space for teammates due to his runs, pressing him is a huge mistake. Defenders are scared shitless of him in a way they aren't of almost any other player.

30 mill is nothing in modern football, standard price for a squad player. I'm not saying he'd be my preference or we should rush out and get him, but if we were to pay 30 mill for him I'd be pretty happy. I do think with the right coaching/setup he could be productive, he had 13 goal contributions in 19/20 which isn't exceptional but could a top manager get that up to 20 or so?

One of those where if Conte sees a role for him and gives his approval, I'd be all for it.

He's had four goal/assists in 3400 minutes last two years. His XA90 was the same as Nathan Redmond's last year, less than Serge Aurier. It's half that this year.

Decision making can be coached or a role can be found in which his skillset is amplified and weaknesses hidden. I gave the example of Mousa Dembele who was an excellent dribbler with a fantastic physical skillset but made bad decisions in the final third and couldn't strike a ball. Spurs found a role for him and he flourished. Players who have exceptional abilities but lack in several areas can be useful in specific roles, I believe Conte is a manager capable of finding said role.

It doesn't, but the point was that he was trained in La Masia, he isn't a kick and run player, his technical ability is solid. People portray him as someone who has zero technical ability when he isn't, he keeps the ball close to feet even when accelerating at full speed. That combination of technique, speed and physical strength makes him a nightmare for defenders.

He's not just fast, he's the fastest in world football, has incredible balance and strength, is a brilliant dribbler and his fundamental technical ability is solid. And maybe he won't repeat it, but for 20-30m I say the risk is worth taking, and at worst we get an impactful squad player. So many of you would never have taken Dembele due to end product. Adama has been described as 'undefendable' by managers like Klopp, he offers something, especially in big games vs pressing sides.

As I've said - if the latest reports are true and we want him, then Conte will have to give the nod. I trust his judgement and if he believes he can do something with him, then I'd be excited. Some of you get way too fucking free with the disagrees because someone has a different view on a player. We can't get ready made worldies so at 20/30m on a player with talent I see it as worth a fucking try.

He's not a player who necessarily looks great stats wise, and for games against smaller sides especially I think his usefulness is limited. But today for example, against Liverpool? He tore them apart on a number of occasions on the counter. Two of their players got booked trying to defend vs him, he was by far their biggest threat.

If we got him in for 20/30m we immediately have a dangerous weapon in games we know we're gonna have to play counter attacking football in, and we have a player we can bring on late in games if we need to play more directly. He's completed the most dribbles (70) by far this season, he runs at teams and opens up space for others.

And I disagree with your previous assessment that he couldn't play wing back. Has done in the past and our setup could potentially suit that perfectly. Conte had Perisic there (Not remotely agile) at Inter and I could see Traore working in that role.

This is a pretty fundamental. We have this in abundance already.

Yep. He would drive us absolutely mad. Fortunately we weren’t convinced in the summer and will be even less so now. There’s been no links since Nuno left thankfully, so I think it’s safe to say this particular ship has sailed.

We don’t need another dribbler who goes down blind alleys. If we want another attacker, we need either another number 9 or a clever attacking midfielder who can unlock packed defences.
