Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we nail Kessie, surely Conte can fashion something from Kessie, Ndombele, Sarr, Gio, Skipp & PEH?

That said, I think expecting him to elevate both Gio & TN is a bit of a ask; so I suspect one with leave in the summer along with Winks & Dele.
Yeah, I'd have thought the dream (January) transfer window would be: central defender, central midfielder, striker.

Without knowing Conte's thoughts on the squad properly, that would be all we'd need for now. Definitely the striker.

I like adding Kessie but I am not sure how Kessie, PEH, Skipp all work in the MF. I don't see any of them playing the deep role in the 3-5-2 and two of them in the other two MF is a really defensive team.

I am hoping that Sarr could fill that deep lying role when he comes in next season, even if just in the 2nd team, but if not that is a 4th player for what should be 1 spot.
I don’t see any way we continue to play both PEH and Skipp together. That was one of Nuno’s biggest mistake. Those two don’t profess the ball and don’t get involved in the attack (Hojberg on rare occasions).

I like both of them individually, but they simply don’t work well together. Maybe on a team that wants to defend, defend, defend, and then try to hit long ball counters, but not for a team that has Kane and Son up front. The star forwards need someone to get them the ball, and that’s just not a Skipp/PEH pairing.

If we sign Brozovic and Kessie, I wouldn’t be shocked if PEH is sold, if not both.

We need Skipp for HG so if we sell one likely to be PEH. I agree you don’t need both in a 3-5-2 formation. But maybe keep both and have a bit of squad depth instead.

Tuttosport has us linked with two Torino defenders, Gleison Bremer and Wilfriend Singo.

Bremer is a 24 year old Brazilian CB who has scored 1 goal and gotten 1 assist in 10 league games for Torino this season.

Singo is a 20 year old Ivorian right back that has scored once and got 2 assists in 11 league games so far.

Both have contracts until 2023.

No idea how reliable these links are.

The problem we have is that Ndombele, although regarded as a technically very good footballer, has failed over the 2 years he's been at Spurs under Poch, Mason, Mourhino and Nuno to consistently perform.

This season our core midfield has tended to be Hojbjerg ad Skipp with Ndombele usually playing a bit in front of them (and Dele in a similar role earlier in the season).

So unless Ndombele plays like Laszarus in a remarkable resurrection back to the Lyon player we thought we had bought, Kessie has been brought in to be the creative player to compete with Ndombele or possibly to play in a 3 with Hojbjerg/Skipp with Kessie and Ndombele - but if Ndombele doesn't want to exert himself Ndonbele .becomes more of a bit part player.

Remember Conte comes with a reputation of training players hard - something Ndombele seems to be allergic to.

Also, Ndombele loves a sulk. Everyone is saying Dele will be out the door, which may be the case, but I think Ndombele could be out of it much earlier. Remember the surprise when it was said a couple of summers ago that Inter wanted Ndombele but none of us believed it because of Conte, well nothing has changed and I think the same.

Liverpool have been linked with Bremer a few times over the last 18 months FWIW.

I'd like Kessie and Brozovic to come in.

Would probably signal the end of one of Gio or Ndombele and maybe Hojbjerg. Or Skipp gets loaned out again.

Honestly would be more excited for Brozovic than Kessie. He's a rare type of player, calms the rest of the midfield down, really useful against the high press which basically every English team loves. Having him sit in front of our defence would be game changing.

Unless Conte works wonders with Ndombele and turns him in to that player, I don't see anyone else in our squad he could work with for that role. And in that case we'd still need another CM to play higher up, unless he's a magician with GLC too.

Sold!

Kessie, Brosovic, Ndombele, Sarr, Skipp & PEH it is then.... :)

The hope would be that Kessie on a low fee would allow us to be a bit more agressive in our pursuit of a striker...... The difference between getting one in early Jan as opposed to deadline day could be pivotal.

I think Emerson will make a decent Conte wing back, he needs passing options and switches to make his way down the wing which this team will provide him, and he has good instincts around the box.

Still think our best route to proper success under Conte would be signing a potentially elite player for that position.. Livramento under Conte would be a monster. Lamptey too risky for the cost imo. Ridle Baku and Wilfried Singo (mentioned above) fit the profile.

Very interested to see if our full backs can kick on and meet the standard required.

Would fuck us on HG, no?

Dele & Winks out is a quandary that has to be solved..... At least one of Sanchez or Dier must be gone come the summer and I think a HG GK2 is a must. That would be a start.

...But we still need another couple more HGs regardless. Especially as a CB & ST2 are both likely non-HG.

Then there's Kane, Doherty and maybe Rodon potentially out too.

......No suggestions of whom though; I've gotta be honest.

As someone else noted yesterday, Fab needs to get our domestic scouting cranked right up cos he & Conte can't just endlessly plow Italy.

Pay a small fee given he has 6 months left and get Kessie in Jan. He's only going to down tools anyway. Why wait for someone else to get a pre-agreement in. Act now. For me, this will be a clear indicator that levy has changed!

Unlikely. He's probably going to be in a title race with Milan, and he's always claimed a strong connection with the club. I'd be very surprised if he was open to moving mid-season.
