Coach Conte's last 4 teams.
I think he trusts Tanganga and Doc.
I think Ndombele is a goner.
Sess is injured but I think is very much in his plans.
Only 2 doubtfuls are Berg and Dele.
 
Winks has had 1 and half good/decent performances for the first time in like 4 years and now he's the answer in CM, jesus christ

Before the red against southampton he was being bossed in the middle, we couldn't string more than 3 passes together.

Central midfield is our biggest issue, neither PEH or Winks are good enough for where we're trying to go, and i'll be concerned if Conte actually doesn't believe we can improve in this area.

Just that he feels he can trust Winks.

Doc gone for sure. He's been used out of necessity imo.

Even Tanganga was first given the nod at RWB and it was a car crash so then Doc got his chance. Emerson can't play every minute. The injury to Sess also gave him more minutes.

Add this to the strong links to a RWB in Jan and it's a near certainty Doc is donezo.

The point being, we can’t trust Winks though

Honest question, if Conte had said that Winks will be sold, and he’s a good lad but his future is better off somewhere else” would that be the line you’d be peddling.?

Or would you be saying “no Conte I really trust Winks, he shouldn’t be sold”

Conte saying he trusts Winks does not mean he does not want upgrades in central midfield.

I read it as him saying that Winks has proven he can be relied upon as a squad option capable of following instructions until the end of the season. Nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.

Think the general consesus is that we have an elite coach who has spent two months assessing the squad. We should back him with regards to squad building because he has built winning squads on multiple occasions.

Couple that with Winks looking decent under Conte (yes the bar is low) and it makes sense to trust his judgement.

Not sure why you are labouring this point.

Yep. Sadly selling Ndombele & Lo Celso especially will be hard. The former almost impossible without subsidising his wages.

If Conte trusts Winks then I see no reason to sell him, he's a reliable squad player. If we have HG players at the squad already doing a job then they should be kept. Moving on and replacing Ndombele should be the main focus (Conte obviously doesn't fancy him at all) but as you say .. not easy, not easy at all.

From that list I do think we could get a fee for Alli, Bergwijn and Doherty. Not big fees but they're sellable. Don't see any reason to sell Davies who is doing a good job at LCB, we need a new option there but again .. he works as a squad player. Rodon would be a better one to move on.

But it's going to be a slow process, it's not gonna be 8 out and 8 in within a single window.

I’m labouring it because I disagree with the manager

Weird I know right, to have your own opinion, but mine is that Winks is shit.
I’ve watched him for a lot longer than Conte has thanks.

Obviously but in an ideal world to get rid of those 7 who have had More than enough chances to prove themselves but are unfortunately all mediocre and unreliable then to sell those and buy De Vrij, Vlahovic, de Ligt, Kessie and a couple more would give our guaranteed regulars healthy fresh competition and, if necessary, quality cover to Seriously make us ridiculously dangerous.. get rid of the driftwood, keep our solid structure and keep growing and strengthening with healthy competition for a regular first team place.. I wish!!
