Coutinho had arguably one stellar season after Gerrard left.

At 29 years of age I see very little that would benefit us.

We need quality yes but we need burning desire a.nd strong minds.

Coutinho might help Villa but the base is a low one.

Anyone crying that we did not get him is simply seeing a name and adding their own narrative.

Fair enough we might not have wanted him and fair enough he went to Villa but I have to call you out on the claims that Gerrard carried him. He was their best player for the 2.5 years after Gerrard left, not just one, look at his stats. The season he was having before leaving to Barca was insane.

We're looking to close the gap on the top 3 and get a top 4 spot. I understand the desperation but Coutinho won't help us do that. He's a Villa/Newcastle type signing.

But for people who can remember even one second past our most recent game can remember that
- we played very eventful game vs Liverpool and drew 2-2 and we had decent chance to win it
- we just recently beat West Ham in their strongest lineup in decisive game
- we have conceded just 4 goals in 8 games in league since Conte arrived; we have hardly been pushovers
- we beat ManCity with keeping clean sheet with PEH starting
- once fucking more - if we lose next Wed, we'll be out of Carabao cup - assuming we will not embarras ourselves vs Morecombe, we are still in FA cup then
- what considers league - true, losing to Arsescum will make our situation more difficult, but we have played 2 games less for fuck sake, even if we lose to them, we are 4 points off them and if we win two remining games we'd be 2 points ahead, shitload still to play for

What annoys me the most is that in your massive hysteria you make it seem like any new addition would come in to squad on Mon and then would set world alight on Wed+Sun games ?!? In entirely new league, with entirely new squad? PLEASE come back to this world and name me one player in January window who has had such immidiate impact except for Bruno Fernandes?!?! And now name me such player in Spurs recent history!

I understand that when hyseria, panic and doom-gloom-boom feeling is all you dream of, then things are all black (usually not white) but there obviously are alternatives in short term.

As I posted in the Conte thread already before Chelsea game, our midfield DUO in any kind of personell tends not to be enough to control tempo against bigger teams. But we have first aid solutions at hand - even with leaving PEH out.

In midfield for example. We also have both Ndombele and Alli still in our books and Conte+his team will have to think who of those players we can utilize in midfield. And such lineup is not just important because of the midfield control. It is absolutely unsustainable to play Son-Moura duo every game 90 minutes.

There are always some alternatives, even if they are not perfect.
But you don't think like real world is, all you are interested is panic, hysteria and ranting. Just grow up or at least drink a cup of calming tea.

Buuuuut, despite their dominance, it took two bundergoals from us to score for them.
Imagine if our CM were stood 30 yards further up the pitch while two thirds of the Chelsea team were in our third.
I think Conte intended to try and keep it tight in the first leg. It failed because as usual, the players shit the bed entirely. It's happened time and time again in the last few years.

Our club doesn't cope well with pressure the team always shits itself when good opportunities are presented, so now we have to wait until next season for another chance of ending the drought of success.

He hasn’t played for a while has he? Huge wages (he’s on nearly £400k a week at Barcelona) and signing on fee. I can see why none of the top 6 have gone for him. Plus his best position is currently where son is stationed.

He and his team has indicated because of AC whom he highly respects, and sees as one of the world’s best managers, and how he improves players, especially strikers. Adding the bond FP has with him, family, agents, club etc.

He wants to finish off the season there. They are aware of our intentions to back AC. He believes HK is one of top two strikers in the world, and wants to play and learn from him. The noises are he believes with HK and himself he can create history with us. Juve the old lady does not have the finances, and are likely to face an embargo of some sort. Btw, FP is seen as innocent in whatever is happening/happened there. I know things change, but this as as fresh as it gets.

I can accept that.

Shane he did not translate that to Barcelona and Bayerm or maybe that talks of other factors.

But happy to concede your point. No problem for me on that although there is always a context to how players perform.
 
Coutinho will score a brilliant winner vs Everton in a few weeks. People will be up in arms abusing Levy and Paratici over not making it happen for a day or two. Coutinho will spend large parts of the season injured/inneffective and we'll not hear much more about it.
