Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

WOW!

Antonio Conte appeared to hint he was told to leave Tanguy Ndombele out of the Tottenham squad to face Chelsea in the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final by the club's hierarchy. The sulky Italian, who saw his side beaten 1-0 on the night and 3-0 on aggregate by his former side, delivered a shady interview with Sky Sports in which he displayed clear frustration with the current situation at Spurs.

Tottenham vs Chelsea halted as fans alert referee to medical emergency
Conte met with owner Daniel Levy and technical director Fabio Paratici earlier this week to discuss the club's January transfer business but so far, activity in the market has been of a minimum.

Instead, it looks like Tottenham could be set to clear some of the deadwood within their squad with their lack of quality once again evident in the two defeats against Chelsea.

One player who is now facing an uncertain future in north London is Ndombele, who headed straight down the tunnel after being subbed in Sunday's 3-1 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup.

When asked to explain the Frenchman's absence, Conte appeared to hint the call was made by those upstairs at the club, although he refused to go into details on the situation.

He said: "It was a technical decision, but before to take the decision, I don't take the decision if I don't consult the club, there is the club line and I have to follow the club line."

Former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on bringing Ndombele to Roma on loan for the rest of the season.

There is also interest from Napoli and Juventus in Serie A with the player open to a new challenge.

That quote is open to interpratation…it was clear that Ndoms attitude has not gone down well with his team mates…

Everyone did. It affected everyone.
We should be judged against everyone else.

And at the moment, the bugger clubs have been quiet. The likes of Villa though have been busy

Did everyone else recently build a stadium? Did people forget that we invested £1b into this project and are relying on the revenue to come from it to compete?

He literally says he made the decision to drop him. If anything it should tell us that at previous clubs he was made to play players he didn’t want to but the owners did. I’m all for bashing Levy, but it seems he had his back here and not the other way round.

Dont just read the headline in the shitty express of all papers, it’s basically the star.

We didn't invest a billion in the stadium. We financed over a very long period of time with very, very manageable annual payments.

I thought you were quite bright, but this week you've been making wierd points that make no sense no matter what or how you say it.

Right semantics, so the profits we were meant to receive last year but didn't due to Covid doesn't mean anything to you? The fact we had to take out a loan to cover the costs of the loss of revenue or we just gonna completely ignore that?

What are peoples thoughts on Livramento for the RWB position? Early days for the player but 19, English and seems to be involved in a lot of Southamptons good play.

No idea on availability as they just signed him.
Chelski has a buy-back clause inserted in his contract - some say it's £25m, while others (wikipedia) say £40. It has been discussed here before but no one (on this forum) knows how that buy-back clause would work in case Spurs bought him.
Livramento would have been my 1st choice as RWB.
However, I remember another Soton full-back, Luke Shaw, who was the next "big thing". He's done quite well but not really lived up to his early promises. And nor has Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Both have done well, though.

Do you genuinely believe our model is based solely on matchday revenue?
So much more money comes from TV, PL, CL, AIA, Nike etc etc. The matchday is just a supplement.

The biggest kicker and reason we made so much less is going from Europe's top table to the poxy paint trophy.
And the reason we did that was because we bottled it in the transfer market.

Correct. The strictly impartial Daily Express reporting the facts, and just the facts.

Not solely no but I think the vast majority of our revenue we receive from match day would be reinvested in the team. Where do you think the TV money is going and the sponsorship deal money? How do you expect to pay back the money that was borrowed to build the project?

Hence why Levy said that stadium costs wouldn't affect spending, its not difficult to understand the strategy here what they are trying to do in terms of using the money received from the profits on transfers.

I just read your other post, you said that this £1b stadium isnt a financial burden, this isn't a serious conversation is it. 🤦‍♀️

How much longer are some of you guys on here gonna defend these parasites getting fat off our great football club while the team continues to stagnate?

not trying to be a dick here but where does the funding and ultimately the profit for this go? Is it separate from the stadium and footballing side?

I guess the reason I ask is, are ENIC getting a decent return on their real estate ventures? How does this impact their overall investment and worth. Does it impact the club value or is it a side gig?
