Amrabat would be massively underwhelming but I imagine both FP and AC will know a fair bit about him so I’m willing to trust them if we go for him as there’s a logic to it if we look further back than this season. Until this season he was apparently very good for the last couple of years as a player who was good on the ball and aggressive off it.

A bit on him from a Fiorentina supporters forum:

Observations

Going alphabetically, let’s look at Amrabat. His defensive work is superb: he constantly harries opponents and wins the ball well. He’s also better at spraying the ball around than anyone else on the list, and he’s very good at carrying the ball forward. The downside is that he offers almost nothing in terms of creating goals. He isn’t a threat to score, doesn’t get into the area, and really doesn’t do much of anything in the final third. Still, that’s the profile of a very useful player, especially when you consider that Iachini didn’t let him off the leash to tear around the middle of the field and wreak havoc
Sounds like at the very least he’d off an upgrade on Winks in that most deep lying position they Conte clearly values highly.

Ultimately Conte seems to want to work with a deep lying playmaker and 2 8s. He’s currently using Skipp and Højbjerg as the 8s, which suggests that he doesn’t see any of Dele, Lo Celso and Ndombele as suitable, and Winks as the deep lying playmaker. I’d highly worry about the lack of goals between this guy and the current favoured 3, whichever combination play, but a player Conte can actually use in pace of 3 he can’t is still a baby step forward.

I reserve judgement but I see the logic.

Like, he's a very talented player, but there's definitely a question over his ambition, drive etc. Nice wage, Paris lifestyle, no real desire to leave PSG and get his career back on track the last few years. He'd offer more ability with the ball than anybody we have in the midfield three of a 3-5-2... but it's a risky move and I'd have doubts about him.

Wijnaldum.. is not the player he was.. he's still probably good enough to be better than what we have in midfield, but I don't see him playing midfield in a 3-4-3.
Until 6 months ago Wijnaldum was an ever present for Klopp in the league. Suggests to me that he’s just not adapted to PSG but would still improve Spurs.

I've loved watching Wijnaldum over the years but he's not as mobile or fit as he was. Think he'd be a good 6 month loan and could maybe be better in Conte's system than he has been for PSG or Holland .. but he's fairly poor when I've seen him the last while. He'd be good to help us retain possession, but he doesn't have great passing range or forward passing, which our midfield is desperately in need of.

I think ideally he's probably the best we can hope for at this very moment.

I think you will find that is not my job, nor I assume it is yours . Of course I can‘t rattle off who is available on frees or have only 18 months left on their contracts, I am not an anorak or a scout or DOF . We do have people who are well remunerated to know such things, more importantly to get it over the line.
What is clear is the tighter your budget the less availability there will be, at least that seems logical to me.

This is exactly it, fans on the internet demanding we have to sign x amount of players without even suggesting ones that are possible, not least worthwhile and forgetting in budget, are waste bandwidth.
There isn't an abundance of players who join us in January and make us better without absurd money. And even that often isn't enough.
