Surely.

We can't keep bashing a square peg into a round hole with Emerson, and Doherty sucks.

Doherty is a round peg.... He's just pants.

Here is a bit about the Diaz deal. It clearly shows there were something "dirty" going on behind the scene...

REVEALED: Jurgen Klopp 'facetimed Luis Diaz in his hotel in Colombia to convince him to join Liverpool... and furious Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy considered REPORTING Reds transfer chiefs to John Henry' after missing out on signing the winger

  • Liverpool have signed Luis Diaz, 25, from Porto in a deal worth up to £50million
  • Tottenham believed that they had agreed to sign the Colombian last week
  • But the Reds snatched him from under Spurs' noses leaving Daniel Levy fuming
  • The Tottenham chairman threatened to report the behaviour of Liverpool staff
  • Jurgen Klopp facetimed Diaz and the pair got on well, with a deal then agreed
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reportedly considered reporting the behaviour of Liverpool staff to the Reds’ owners after Spurs were beaten to the signing of Luis Diaz.

The Colombian winger completed a move to Anfield from Porto on Sunday morning in a deal worth up to £50million. He has signed a five-year contract on Merseyside.

It shows just how quickly things can move in the final few days of the transfer window, as Tottenham previously believed they had wrapped up a deal to sign Diaz.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs had agreed a €45million (£37.5million) deal with Porto last week, along with around €15million (£12.5million) of add-ons.

However, the report adds that Liverpool – who had asked to be informed of any move Tottenham made – acted quickly to match those figures and also agreed to pay €8million (£6.5million) by this coming Monday to sweeten the arrangement.

A FaceTime call between Diaz and Jurgen Klopp was then reportedly arranged – with the 25-year-old currently away on international duty with Colombia – and that the pair got on well.

By the end of Thursday, Diaz had informed Porto that Liverpool was his preferred destination and a deal was agreed with the Reds.

The Telegraph claim that upon hearing of the winger’s U-turn, Spurs chairman Levy tried desperately to regain the advantage in negotiations and also threatened to report Liverpool’s recruitment staff to the Reds’ owners John W Henry and Mike Gordon.

But he was unsuccessful on both counts. Not only had Diaz decided on an Anfield switch, but Henry and Gordon had no issues with the way Liverpool went about the deal.

Diaz is the second major signing that Tottenham have missed out on this month, after also seeing Barcelona snatch Wolves winger Adama Traore from under their noses.

The clock is now ticking for Levy and Antonio Conte to add to the Spurs squad ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

I think other than the fact Liverpool are currently an elite team in Europe, they also have major stability. They have a long serving coach and a well oiled and well established team.

We on the other hand, have a coach who is 3 months into an 18 month contract after sacking the last one after only 6 months. The new coach is known to be a short term coach, the chairman is known to have no plan whatsoever and the whole club is mocked by many other fans and the media.

We're just not an attractive option for top players. Especially as they know when they want to leave, Levy will price them out of a move.

Are you insane? Our arrivals in those windows are

Arrivals 20/21
Reguilon 25m
Hojbjerg 15m
Doherty 13m
Rodon 11m
Hart free
Bale loan
Vinicius loan

Arrivals 19/20
Ndombele 55m
Lo Celso 30m
Bergwijn 27m
Sessegnon 25m
Clarke 10m
Vorm free
Gedson loan

Arrivals 18/19
Sweet fuck all

We're not comparable to Chelsea in that regard, Mendy was a steal, Kovacic has been brilliant, Jorginho has been fantastic, Havertz scored the winning goal in a CL final, Ziyech has showed his ability even if he hasn't spent enough time on the pitch, Pulisic might be a bit pricey but still has time. You've also left out signing Thiago Silva on a free. I think the only two ones there who are complete failures are Kepa and Werner, and the thing with them is they can afford to fuck up a couple times, we can't. Romero, Hojbjerg and Reguilon are the only 3 signings we've made in the past 4 years who could be called anything close to a 'success', and to be honest I'm still unsure on PEH. When you're fighting an uphill battle financially you can't afford to make transfer mistakes and we've done it a million times, to say 'we're doing pretty well compared to Chelsea' is mind boggling especially considering they've won a bloody Champions League in that time. And trust me I don't like giving them praise, this is just facts.
Well put

Isn't the deal if we get top four we have to sign him? Or I have I misread. If so it's entirely possible he flops but we still have to buy. And we're buying Bentancur outright, are we not?

Top 4 & 15 games reportedly.

.........Which is a lot considering 23 games means we reached the FAC final.

I'm not arsed what Juve do with the money,

You brought it up mate....... And it's very much the new misery-meme.

I'm just saying the idea Juve fans are annoyed they're leaving or shitting on them because of it is wrong. They are happy to be getting rid and have wanted these players gone for a while. They're not turning on them because they're exiting the club.

I didn't question the rest of your post. 👍

To be honest, when we signed him, he'd just had a pretty successful season in Ligue 1 and in the CL. But, talent isn't everything and it was already out there that his character wasn't the best. I suppose our scouting team was aware of that, but someone must have thought it'd get sorted under Poch. It didn't, it's proper backfired. And for 50-60mil, that's a costly error.

But now we have a chance to send him back to a weaker league, where he might come back to life, helping us recoup some of that cash.

So let's wait and see. Might not all be lost

I fear we will be in position where he cost £60m but we will be able to sell him (after a good loan) for say £30m - so a costly mistake.

But we are where we are with him, and clearly after 5 managers have tried to work with him, its time to move him on.

This article sounds like total bollocks, why would Levy complain to Henry about it? Just made up nonsense from the papers.

2 fresh faces that are competent, league proven players. That's the positive I take from this. Bonus if either reach higher levels under Conte. Obviously Conte has a positive impact to players he considers effective.

Ndombele and Dele frozen out due to lack of doing the job correctly as the manager wanted. (again)

No idea on Gio and what has happened there considering he was selected in the match prior to the one he missed completely. Maybe some of the same reasons.

Gil needs more seasoning but Conte at least was ok to bring him on.

+2 on players that can help vs essentially the -4 everyone keeps mentioning doing little to nothing. Net positive.

I brought it up in relation to someone suggesting Juventus fans didn't rate the players because they were leaving, that's all. The point was they're happy, they've wanted this squad rebuild for a while so the prospect of getting money for them makes them happy.

If they signed a future Ballon d or winner with our money but Kulu/Bentancur ended up being great for us, I wouldn't care less.

Can't be fucked with all this..... It's over.

We didn't pay £21m plus Lamela.

We part exed Lamela in. How much was he worth? 10-12m?

Lamela played less than twenty games a season for us, many as a sub in eight years.

His heroics for us are folklore, not unlike that of Tin-Tin.

Fictional.
