Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No; I mean what we got from those 3 accross the first half of the season (20 games) vs Kulu in the remaining half of our season (18) games.

There was no Kulusevski when we were going for Diaz and I would have expected Bergwijn to be sold.
Kulusevski was linked in the media back in December, long before any link to Díaz. We may have relegated him to second choice when we thought we could get Diaz but that doesn’t mean he was some last minute reaction to the fear of being left empty handed.
That's just a silly comparison because those 3 barely played in the first half of the season.
I think that ties in with his point though, in that fire their departures to have made us less creative, The manager would’ve had to have had some intention to use them to try to create.

I was answering a question of where would Diaz play if we bought him. At that time there was no Kulusevski in the team.

So why all the crying about us being "weakened" then?

(It's not silly at all.... )
Your comparison isn't the most relevant one actually.

To truly judge this transfer window in terms of rest of season; we'd have to compare the performances of Kulu & Bentancur vs the hypothetical performances of Ndombele, GLC, Dele in the next 6 months if they had stayed.

I think it's fair to assume that if they had stayed, Conte would have tried to find a solution so one or more of them would contribute to the squad; which he did not bother with in the last few months.

Regardless, I do think Kulu & Benta do improve our squad simply because they are hard working and will listen to Conte's instructions. But I think we could have done better; and no RWB is a big miss.

Well, aside from being friends of mine, they're also the same lads who had convos with a big French journo from L'Equipe (Vincent Duluc) about N'Dombele coming back on loan before it was even hinted at in the media - feel free to check my previous posts to find track of when I mentioned it. Oh and they aren't 12yo and have nothing to gain from making stuff up about a player's attitude, so yeah I trust them.

But by all means, you're free to believe/doubt stuff as you see fit.
I can believe it, the wheels on the N’Dumbfuck move would have been started moving at the same time or before Lyon agreed to sell the Brazilian lad. They would have known they needed a player in that position.

Ironic that N’Dumbfuck replaced his replacement in the Lyon side 🤣

I think we could have done better too, but that's not the crux of what I'm shooting at.

Mate; no disrespect intended...... It's a very specific challenge of a bet, to a very specific handful of people, who have responded in a very specific way; crying about how we've "got rid of all our creativity".....

If it doesn't compute, then that reflects well on you..... Be safe in the knowledge that it's not aimed at you.

It was in L'Equipe yesterday that as soon as the Newcastle offer came in, Bruno Guimaraes wanted to go...but he was very open with Lyon bosses and his teammates that it was for mainly financial reasons, cause NUFC have quadrupled his monthly salary.

Lyon wanted Bentancur AND Kulusevski, but when they heard from Juve how much they cost, it was a no-go. Lyon just do not spend big, they can't afford it after the fortune they lost due to Covid. So they made a move for Lo Celso, but when the player said no to going back to Ligue 1, Spurs offered N'Dombele.

OL weren't overly keen at first, especially as they still had hopes of getting Tolisso back on loan. But when that fell through too, they thought getting Dombs would be better than nothing. Especially cause I hear Paqueta and other senior players really weren't happy about the Bruno deal, though they get why he went. To be honest they already were pissed off before the Bruno deal, cause they're having a shit season and they blame it on the summer TW. The fact Lyon then spent 15 mil on Romain Faivre from Brest at the last minute was really to appease players and fans more than anything

Wow… and our fans think we’re run like a shit show. We are far luckier than we realise!!

Said it before he came to Spurs for Pochettino. The moment he went he threw the towel in. It's weird but that bloke can make folk fall in love with him. See Dele Alli, Danny Rose. I only got neutral from Eriksen on Poch maybe Toby?
What the heck are you talking about?

Ndombele requested a transfer the same damn preseason he was signed in, before he even played a game for us!

Steve says he hates January windows on video.

We have a critical January window, which some have mentally morphed into a good one despite a lighter, less creative squad. Two more major and exciting targets fail seemingly at the last fucking seconds as per usual with Tottenham.

Steve resigns.

Sound like a good window, does it? 🤔
The only creative thing about lo celso was he always tried to curl the slowest shot in league history into the top corner.

Yep. Things seemed to be going well for him before that. Opened his account with a beauty of a hit. Having had bosses that really held down workplaces quit on me before and seeing the place go to shit afterwards, I can totally understand Ndombele feeling betrayed and let down. The problem though is you can only sulk for so long before you need to sack up and carry on with life.

Firing Poch instead of properly backing him was a huge mistake. I myself called for Poch to be fired at the time, which I now regret. Hopefully Levy has learned a great deal from a couple seasons in the desert and won't so easily let great opportunities and key moments slip from his fingers again.

How that guy hit 20 something goals in a season in Spain is a complete mystery to me. Always seemed to kick like a girl for us. I'm still not convinced he wasn't phoning it in in all his games for us.

Fluke season. Rest of his career was nothing like as productive, either before or after. He'd already disappointed at PSG before he arrived at Betis, so we pretty much signed him off the back of one good season. Even then he only had 9 goals 4 assists in La Liga .. it wasn't really exceptional, nice handful of goals in the cup competitions though.
