Was 13 when we won the league cup with woodgate goal, don't think I fully appreciated it at that age.

so I'm ready for the full takeover, would like to see spurs win something before I die of old age.

I don't wanna be that guy that says "Go support City then", but genuine question...... Why not?

Spiritually speaking, what would be left of Spurs at that point?
Is there much left now?
We're no longer at WHL, just a souless, albeit nice looking, bowl that was partly designed for NFL games.
They treat the fans like crap, whether its shoving them up in the top tier to maximise advertsing at the first game back after covid or selling shirts for thousands of shitty cup defeats. Squeezing every penny they can. Most expensive prices for often fairly mediocre fare.
They constantly appoint defensive, non Tottenham managers like Santini, AVB, Mourinho , Nuno (maybe even Conte at a push) leaving our so called DNA a distant memory.
We dont buy glamour players like the Tottenham of old and they clearly arent that fussed about glory which was what the club was built on with Rowe and Bill Nic.

The owners don't provide the identity.

These current owners have spat all over what was meant to be the Spurs way in terms of playstyle, milked our fans, and the owner is a twat who fucked over his country to make a buck. Now he sits on a yacht in the Bahamas or w/e and rakes in tax free money. How's that the Spurs way?

Formidable rant, but the question was somewhat different.....

We're run by one in a succession of many presumed greedy businessmen here to make a buck. You think Sugar or Scholar were fundamentally any different?..... They're not here to wash blood and suffering off of their hands however.

"Spiritually speaking, what would be left of Spurs at that point?"

Where is the connection from City's state-sponsored petro-murder-ball gotten gains to the club that existed before their scummy lottery win?

......Where's the lineage? ........How does any sense of pride tie back in?

As above..... In that context; style of play and whether or not our signings are "glamourous" enough feels somewhat superficial.

Well so far we have,
Option 1 big boy investment meaning competitive, and greater chance of winning.
Option 2 remain with ENIC and stay as we are.
What is your other option out of interest

We don’t really know anything tbh it’s just internet chat but even if that is the truth the option to wait for the right offer is still available ie option 3

Our current owners would take Saudi money in a heartbeat. I don't view the people who leech off Saudi money as any more moral than the Saudis, sorry. It's cool you're drawing a moral line but I find it all a bit arbitrary - they're all culpable & all part of a product which has invited these people in. If I followed football with my moral cap on I'd go and support a lower league team which needs the money & be done with the Premier League enitely.

Where's our connection to the club that existed pre ENIC? We're not a plucky cup team, we don't play daring football, we don't even really have exciting, maverick players. Identities change with time, ours has shifted numerous times in the last decade and so has City's. If we got taken over by mega billionaires I don't think 'spiritually' we'd be any less Spurs than we are now, because I honestly don't even know what that means anymore.

The invention of the premiership slowly killed football as a contest, it’s all about money nowadays and has been for a long time and spurs have been and continues to be a part of it, we are just not as successful as other playing the same game

All I take from that is a club that just wants to let their fans down at every possible opportunity. That’s what I take from any of that kind of Spurs DNA or spirituality bollocks. I want that to end, hence I’m on board with the sportswashers.

Well that's a very real proposition for some if the aforementioned tipping point is breached.

As already asked above..... Fundamentally how is it any different to the previous couple of owners? ........The Sugar era was more glamourous?

[ It isn't/wasn't, yet you're falling into the trap of making it about ENIC specifically..... Can the conversation not exist without that cul-de-sac? .........Harking back to the glory-days, but framing the near fourty year gap as an ENIC thing is bogus. ]

A few years of muddied footballing I.D. and fuck it; it's all been trash...????

You honestly claiming NOT to have been excited or entertained by Kane, Son, Kulu, Eriksen, Dele, Dembele, Walker, Vert, Bale, Berba, Defoe yadda yadda........ Poch is your self-entitled "king" but all this was shite too?

Identities change with time, ours has shifted numerous times in the last decade and so has City's.

Which is only natural..... Bumps in the road seem to be tougher to swallow for you than I realised....... (See prev. para). Your take in this segment seems to pretty much to throw the baby out with the bath-water. Genuinely suprised by the extent you're prepared to go with all this tbh.

Never asked you before, but how far does your fandom stretch back? ......What halcyon days have formed your expectations and the romantic notion of the so-called Tottenham Way?

If we got taken over by mega billionaires I don't think 'spiritually' we'd be any less Spurs than we are now, because I honestly don't even know what that means anymore.

In the interest of staying on track...... I've framed every step of this in terms of sports-washing; not mere mega-rich people and certainly not a ENIC-protective point of view.

My dis-enfranchisement is game-wide. Spurs becoming a sports-washing tool would like City, Chavs, PSG would be a step to far. I'm not trying to impose my morals or politics on anybody else, but at the same time there's a hypocrisy in our midst where people bemoan City & Chavs and their doped/sports-washing stranglehold on the last 2 decades of English football and then at the same time are jealous and relish the idea of the same thing for us and often then deride others for a far less conflicted stance.

EPL vs Div 1 sucks and is totally where the commercialisation went into overdrive, but petro-doping was the nail in the coffin on a competitive level......

Classic Levy move..

Drag these talks of an investment out until January 31st, falls through.. no need to spend his money as he thought others would :levylol:

Uhh I didn't say it was trash. I said we have no consistent identity, which we don't. We've had some good players/teams/coaches and some very bad ones but there's no consistent theme here, we don't have an underlying philosophy or way of playing at the club.

I've supported since Redknapp. Not sure where I wanted to throw the baby out with the bathwater .. what is the baby in this analogy?

That's cool. I really don't care if the people who take us over are dickheads as I view them all as dickheads on a sliding scale and can't be arsed differentiating. That's the long & short of any discussion (that & I don't think we have an identity rn with or without a sportwasher) so it's down to opinion. If oil money owning Spurs is your limit that's fine.
