Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think people on this forum would complain if we were top of the league and were spending money on Trossard and Kiwior, yes. All whilst missing out on a huge Spurs fan to our rivals.

100%

People sure ... and again they'd be the tiny minority. This forum overwhelmingly thought the summer transfer window was great, there were maybe less than a handful of dissenting voices & they got shouted down/disagree spamm'd.

These 'toxic' fans you're talking about aren't as prelavent as you seem to think.

I'm sure it's been offered somewhere in the past 1000 hours of negotiation.

No it’s only us that would haggle all month for our number 1 target and then get to a stage where we have to agree to letting the player play an extra game with his club to get the deal over the line.

Sporting were clear they want the release clause, and we fanny about the first 2 weeks of window with shit part exchange offers, why weren’t all these daily meetings happening at the start of the window or even before the window opened when he’s clearly our priority.
Just wasted time and games where he could have been our player already .

Just to put some figures into perspective, Spurs are one of a handful of clubs likely to make £100m or so profit - treat that as a proxy for cash generated (although most cash received in summer when we receive tv money)..

So in January we might have £50m or less to spend (half the £100m as we spend rest in summer transfer window)

That means paying one release fee upfront means its the ONLY new player we might afford in January.

That's why most clubs 'haggle' to pay transfer fees over a few years - it means Spurs can afford to get more than one player to join in January.

That's called normal practice

a minute of silence for that "spurs fan" convinced that tottenham had already bought porro, spent more than Woolwich on the transfer market and fully backed antonio conte

Pray Happy Sunday GIF
200 million Euros in the transfer market is backing Conte, whether the scum buy Caicedo or not.

The 60m bid is being reported by every major outlet in the country .. so no, not some guy on twitter.

Can you guarantee that? They have a highly performing, young LW. They needed depth for him, went for the star in Mudryk, were out-gunned by a team firing off transfers for fun but settled on a PL proven depth player. Their fans seem happy with it, so ours would be too. We're not unique.

And if we were bidding 60m for Caicedo after spending 25m on a young CB nobody would be angry either. This constant need to act like our fans are unreasonable/spoilt is odd, compare what we get compared to what the other top 6 clubs. Compare how unruly/restless we are. It's not even on the same scale, we've got the most docile, 'reasonable' fans in the top 6 by far.
Fair point on the Twitter thing. I exaggerated.

And overall, we do have a very reasonable and patient fanbase which isn’t reflected in this, the most rabid forum there is. There are a few on here that seem like they won’t ever be happy with what we do, such is their distaste for the owners and their apparent love for all things Woolwich.

And I include you in that group these days Totts. You’ve gone from an informed poster on football matters to someone who just seems to want to wind up Spurs fans. Hopefully you can find your way back to the middle ground.

Under Paratici we have spent decent money and on mainly very good players.

Forster (as back up)
Porro Spence Emerson Romero Lenglet Perisic Udogie
Bissouma Bentancur Sarr
Kulusevski Richarlison Danjuma Gil
This season's failings are more down to the World Cup being mid-season, injuries to key players and Conte not managing three games a week very well. Woolwich doing so well does not help things either.
Could see us dominating games with that lineup

Will be fucking gutted if Scum get their hands on Caicedo, he's like a more technical version of Ngolo Kante.

Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Bellingham are going to be among the best CMs in the world for the next 10+ years.

The use of the summer transfers has been worse than the deals themselves. The summer transfer window was by no means a bad one.

Just from what I've seen on this forum and across social media. Tottenham has the most toxic online fanbase of any club in the big 6

I assume that's because the decent fans don't vent online. And instead are part of those incredible fans away at Fulham. Supporting the team and the coach.

Again, polls about the summer transfer window were overwhelmingly positive. And a lot of the time the more 'patient' fans are the ones shouting down dissenting voices, the Levy appreciation threads shows us this. It just depends on where the teams at during that time. The other side isn't any more tolerant when it flips and we're doing well for a bit.

You & others mistake anger and a hint of bitterness at the fact that they're essentially everything we'd want from a Spurs team and we're well ..more or less the same we've been for years. And the relentless positivity despite what we perceive as shortcomings winds us up as much as the praise for how they operate apparently winds you up .. so it goes both ways.

Do we? I've heard fans booing at half time more than a few times this season.

City fans booed at half time vs us .. reasonableness is relative, compared to fans of lower league teams? Probably not. Compared to the rest of the top six? Yeah .. our fanbase have the patience of a fucking saint.

I mean FFS Brighton were booing the team a year or so back because they'd had a dodgy run and were in mid-table. BRIGHTON !!!

Not sure anyone on here is relentlessly positive about us.

What is winding me up is the love in for Woolwich today. They could cure cancer and I’d still think they were a shower of cunts.
