No we did not, this year was about rebuilding the squad, point me to anyone who said that we should be aiming at a CL place at the beginning of the season...
The manager and players clearly had goals even bigger than CL places.

Didnt he score an OG in that game?Ok I respect that. You’re a very reasonable poster and I enjoy reading your points.
only thing I’ll pick up on - how many points was VdV worth in our 2-2 draw with Brentford? He looked good which was great but I don’t know how you translate that one performance into a €£ price worth paying extra for…

Exactly, if only Levy had held off we'd be +2 points right now!

Every club's goal is to win all their games mate, that doesn't mean there's a likelihood that it will happen.
Be realistic.
Loan with Obligation is just a way to finance the deal better for the buying club, im not an accountant but i'm sure it helps with FFP or at least defer the cost for another season.
It's called 'negotiation' and it is very common practice in business, both football and non-football related.I'm talking about Ange, not other managers he was very clear about what he wants.
Why don't you advocate going to the next person on the list if you don't want us to pay the extra millions?
To get Dragusin at the end of the window, would be unacceptable.
Didnt Sonny Give away a pen as well? If only we sold him in the summer!Exactly, if only Levy had held off we'd be +2 points right now!

If we don't treat the FA Cup with the respect it deserves and the opportunity that it is for us to win a trophy this season...I'll go ballistic.OK.
it looks like we are close to a middle ground. Could start a whole new conversation about that second paragraph but instead let's leave it here:
The 3rd CB should have been done in the summer and not gambled on to cost us points. And to follow that it should be done before it adds risk to any more points and the FA Cup. We have already missed the FA Cup so we can ascertain that competition isn't as high priority for the club, now they need to make sure on UTD away.
Can you imagine the scenes if Dragusin starts against Utd and he scores an own goal in a narrow loss/draw.

Well, that is bullshit, as there is settling in, that extra in training, him finding a house etc etcHe’s trying to get you to understand that paying 2m to get a deal done one game earlier is poor business.
Nah. Realistically I look at this squad and manager and see what they are very close to being capable of.
If that is where we differ then that's what is probably underlying this whole debate.
I like to be amused.
What rumours?Well, that is bullshit, as there is settling in, that extra in training, him finding a house etc etc
If we go out of the FA Cup, this forum will be in melt down, especially if it was from mistakes made by our non-CB CB's...
When Radi might not have made those mistakes, means we would still have a chance at the FA cup, rather than being out.
The problem is, whilst we are dicking about, someone like Napoli might turn up and start a bidding a bidding ware and if we get him, could cost an extra 10 million...
IMO, we should and could have signed Radi by now, but bu the looks of it, if rumours are true, we have been dicking around again.
I get your point, but you can't separate the "pay extra to get him in sooner" from the "risk losing him". Paying extra both buys you a player for United (agree with your pov there), but also assures we actually get the guy. All depends on whether there is a Plan B and how inferior it is.Aha, and that second part is a completely different point that I agree with. We mustn't artifically conflate the two things though - msot would agree that we should have got another CB last summer, and hopefully most would agree we've been punished for that to the fullest degree with bad luck on CB injuries - but that's all happened now. My issue here is with people insisting that we should 'pay the fucking money' to get Dragusin here this week rather than next week or the following week (which I appreciate are both different, due to the United game).
If we weren't in the transfer window now, and someone asked me if I wanted us to loan Dragusin in for just the United game for £2m, I'd say no, that's poor value for one or even two games. I know it could help us to win the match, but as someone who works with risk & reward, I'd say the cost is too high for the incremental increase in our chances of getting the ultimate reward, a CL place. It would help us obviously, but £2m would be too steep for me. And that is what is being debated here - not whether or not to sign him at all, but whether to pay extra to get him in sooner.
Yes I'm aware of what negotiation is.It's called 'negotiation' and it is very common practice in business, both football and non-football related.
You ask if you can buy a player. The club says they want £10. You offer £6. They say £9 is the absolute lowest they will accept. You offer £7. You end settling somewhere in between - let's say £8. This is what happens with pretty much every transfer ever done.
So I don't want us to pay the £10 now, I want us to wait and pay the £8.
TheGreenLily just to note, I'm not suggesting those are the actual amounts for Dragusin above, they are just an example.

What rumours?
If the unrestrained hysteria on here is true?
It isn’t.
