Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sacrificing his influence in the middle of park would be a huge waste; yes.

Modric spent the first year or so at Spurs nominally playing as LW but strangely very creative in the middle.

Eze started out as LW at QPR and initially at Palace. Hogson referred to him the other day as a forward.

Truth is he fills a Maddison type remit at Palace whether notionally a winger, a forward or CM.

Too many people get hung up on 'positions' not what the player actually does !

Then leave him as a CAM and let him have license to drift left and right when he sees fit (i.e. much like he was doing until he got injured).

.....If it ain't broke; don't fix it.

Tony is a pig shit thick bellend with
zero self awareness and no respect for the club that has stood by him. Wouldn’t touch with a bargepole irrespective of how many goals he might bang in.

And all his media apologist chums saying he’s got a gambling problem blah de blah. In that case then, literally bet on anything else , just not your own team ffs.

Out of interest, in what way have Brentford stood by him?

They're not going to sack him. That would be utter madness. He's a valuable asset that would cause them to lose so much more than they'd gain by sacking him. (large fee or goals)
He's been suspended from all aspects of football, so it's not like they have played him and supported him publically.
Brentford have done no more than they could, which is to carry on paying their employee and wait until a) he's no longer suspended and b) the window is open to decide what to do with him.

Going out on a limb, they may even have benefitted from this as his character may have reduced interest in him, making him easier for them to keep a hold of.

We will be competing on all four fronts next season.

KWP can play both left and right back equally well - If he is the back-up to both Porro and Destiny, he will get near starter minutes with rotation, injuries and suspensions.

If Southampton don’t come back up and we can get him for a reasonable fee, I think it’d worth considering given our academy trained player issue. KWP is a solid player - better than Davies and Emerson at fullback imho but not as versatile. Also not sure how KWP would do in an inverted role.

Anyway always nice to see Academy players at the club. KWP grew up near White Hart Lane, lifelong fan of the club and joined our academy at Age 10.

I like him, is a Tottenham boy 100% and loves the club.

He has certain talent and good attributes , however the main issue with him is that he consistently makes silly mistakes in games, in tennis you call it unforced errors. at times he looks so composed and assured then just silly lack of focus or just brainfarts occur and that is is downfall else he would be a solid bottom half pl player and good back up for a top pl team.

We’ve been very quick about getting Spence, Reguilon and Tanganga back out the door immediately

Not wanted by Postecoglou.

Clear as day the guys wants players who have football brains.

It's why Sanchez is another that to go..

A player like Sessegmon, has a football brain but is somply too timid, alongside his fragility of body.

Sammyspurs got this right, as he did when Eriksen started tp give less than 100%.

I am very annoyed that people give ANY weight of Chelsea-this-or-Chelsea-that.
This is a pathetic third-rate club, stop obsessing about it.

We have ONE and only ONE question regarding our transfers - would that transfer improve our team and our chances in the long term. Period. That's it.

We have to put this question as the first and only one. I can't understand why anyone would bother what that would do to Chelsea. We are building something big and lasting here. Yet so many fans act like worst of West Ham fans who see us as their cup final and obsess about that rivalry. It is just sad.

IF (and I say if, I am not sure about that transfer myself) we see that Gallagher is a very good fit, Ange wants him and we have a feeling he would give his all to do well for us and it is doable- then get him. It puts us to stronger position AGAINST EVRY TEAM IN THE WORLD. If Chelsea wins or loses from this is 100% irrelevant.

We have all the world to beat, cannot focus on one shitty club that had temporary glory-time with Oil-oligarch at helm.
This has been talked to death but …

Reportedly, we offered 35M for Gallagher in the summer - Chavs turned us down cause they want a ridiculous 50M to 60M fee.

Gallagher now has 18 months left on his Chavs contract so his price should be going down (but Chavs are sticking to their ridiculous valuation).

If Chavs lower their price and we get him for a cheap fee (or maybe even a reasonable price) - I think most here would be fine - What people are not fine with is overpaying and having our pants pulled by Boehley - with the added bonus of helping Chavs with their FFP issues. Don’t want the club to be mugged off by anyone - but I really don’t want Chavs to do it to us.

Plenty of good midfielders out there - No need to overpay Chavs for Gallagher - who I personally think is pretty mediocre.
