Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he doesn't want to come here then there's nothing we can do about it, manager wants players who are committed not ones who think they're owed game time. If he goes onto fulfill his potential then it is what it is.

Just read nusa deal could be a twist after all and coming to us. Source: romano newsnow.

Am I the only one thinking £30 million for an 18 year old is a hell of a risk any way?
He may have huge potential but he could also flop , if he is going Brentford as he thinks he will get more game time then I don’t want
Him here , I want a player who believes they are good enough to start for us next season and ready to prove to Ange they are good enough!
Good point and we need somebody now.

We never bid. We made an approach then no follow up. I said in my opinion this transfer was dead days ago. I think this transfer seen as one of opportunity if available for the right price it may be worth the punt. Even though Alasdair Gold is not the most reliable he was saying after the Dragusan deal that any more transfers would be transfers of opportunity unless we sold Højbjerg then we would replace him.

Hmmmm.

Nusa is not a guaranteed starter at Bruges in the inferior Belgian League PL is a big step up, so its certainly not a given that he will adapt to more than the odd appearance in PL next season, certainly not a guaranteed starter in PL, even though he might have vast potential.

Exactly. €30 million on him is an absolutely huge risk. It’s too much money for him and we obviously thought the same. I suspect POK is right and this didn’t go any further than that initial meeting with paratici last year.

Keep that and put it towards someone who is actually going to contribute next season. A guaranteed goal scorer. Not a nusa or johnson but someone who is proven to deliver goals and assists.

Paratici went to Belgium last year

We have tracked him since.

By the time we get to face to face with a club we have done most of the work with intermediaries. That’s how we’ve done business over and over. That’s how we avoid auctions.

We wanted him and didn’t get it done. It sucks but that’s football. We will either regret it or we won’t.

That’s not what POK says at all. If anything it’s the opposite. We didn’t go for him because we thought him not ready. And I agree btw, he’s on the bench for a team in the Belgian league.

Nusa doesn’t get regular starts for Brugges.. A lot of people seem to have invested their lot in him on here?

If he’s not confident enough to back himself to get ahead of players at Spurs then it sounds like a bullet dodged.

Never see him play but, from his highlight reels, Nusa looks genuinely skilled against his opposition— as opposed to a number of reels that I’ve seen where prospects look entirely average. So, in that sense, I’m disappointed.
Given that Chelsea, Newcastle and us were interested and at least one of those clubs could have (and probably would have) matched Brenford’s financial terms, this is obviously about playing time assurances in order to develop. Perhaps, we could have ‘guaranteed’ him a decent loan but obviously not playing time with Son (and probably others) ahead of him.
The other thing to note is that a ‘bidding war’ is only possible if the player agrees to allow it. At the end of the day, he controls his destination and if he refuses to go to a higher bidder then there’s nothing the seller can do other than refuse him the move based on the fact that his preferred club aren’t paying market value. As fans, we out a lot of stock into the the prestige and glamour associated with our club (and others) but to an 18 year old looking to develop, it seems as if the club’s name was less important. Nusa clearly wasn’t holding out for Tottenham.
