Maybe that's down to the way the game was at the time. DoF wasn't as high profile a job as it is now and I think any new owner in this day and age would want to make changes in that area straight away. In 2001, the media perception was that the manager bought and sold the players and I think that was reflected in the way managers spoke about new signings in the media. These days, it's a given that there are many different people involved in the signing of a player and the level of influence a manager has in the signing of players is a matter of some debate.

Did want us to sign him, paid interest as my daughters 3rd consultant was a De Keleteare (she referred to me as “some kind of maths genius” which I liked ALOT!).

Yeah, not too shabby numbers, especially given his flunking at AC (loan with option I read).

I watched him a few times at Milan, and I don’t think he played a single game as striker. Nearly every game I watched he played ACM behind a striker. It didn’t help that Milan were struggling last season for rhythm, and their midfielders kept getting injured.

I didn’t even realise he was striker/CF.
