Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he doesn’t we will no doubt be told how grateful we have to be that he got it right . It’s bizarre, I don’t know what you do for a living but I don’t expect gratitude for getting a couple of things right over a period of 24.years .
My post was a bit tongue in cheek re Dragonman. It's probably agents just doing agent things, If it does fall through due to Dragonman wanting to stay at Genoa Baldy looks fucking idiotic once again.
I have to imagine you sound out that a player wants to move before you submit a bid

To bring up staff from the past is just denying current reality.
I disagree as I do not believe Levy has relinquished as much power as you claim . In which case i expect more of the same . Because you say it is different does not make it so , because the club say it is so it does not make it a fact either . Sometimes people and organisations are disingenuous, Levy has a massive amount to prove in my opinion .

So what are Lange and co doing at the moment then? Like what do you think their roles are?

What's Levy doing at this very moment if he hasn't relinquished control?

He's not going to be here in time to play against Burnley.

Clearly wasn't that important to get him in early. Even if that's what the manager clearly wanted. Not forgetting this is the 3rd CB he has wanted since the summer.

If it costs us the FA Cup run, don't look at the manager.

Yep our 3rd choice CB will definitely be the difference between us beating or losing against Burnley.

I’m going through the transfer sites and it’s cracking me up when you hear Spurs are expected to sign Dragusin this MONTH, Levy I want him now not the last minute of the transfer window when you have drained the life out of everyone involved.
You’re a hateful barsteward.

Not the point.

As a club you set the tone and priorities with your actions.

The club left the squad without a new player for that 3rd CB spot since the summer. The coaching staff understood the financial constraints and some players stepped up to adapt their roles when needed. But it still undoubtedly cost us points.

Would it have been easy to get a deal done for a CB in time to arrive early enough to play vs Burnley? No, of course not but winning trophies is not easy. You need to do things that are outside the norm sometimes i.e., players stepping up to play out of position, coaches stepping up to adapt the plan, and club officials stepping up to get deals done early.

2 of those 3 it looks like we can rely on when it comes to hunting Trophies.

Maybe we can scrape by Burnley with 4 fullbacks in defence again but any serious club shouldn't be in this position.

Rather than crucial for beating Burnley I saw this game as a chance for Dragu to get some game time prior to a baptism of fire at OT.

It was not to be! VDV did well when thrown into the fire, hopefully Dragu can do the same.

Doesn't change a thing.

"They want the most they can get for their asset" No shit Sherlock!

That doesn't mean there is not a selling price that you arrive at. Hence "this should have been negotiated in Nov/Dec".

You sir, are the one that needs to learn to read.
Man, do yourself a favour...don't engage with him when it comes to TW or all things Levy, you'll save yourself a world of pain. There's just no winning the argument with him and his comrades from the Dan's The Man brigade, no matter how logical and valid your point may be. Ask my man Deuterz Deuterz

You're quite lucky, he's not yet brought out his famous stats. But even without those, he'll always know more than you will, and he'll always be right.

This is all well and good but until someone shows me similar transfers of this magnitude where they've managed to get them in in the 1st week for their clubs I'm willing to go with the fact that it's uncommon because maybe it aint as easy as people are suggesting.

I've always said Jan is a desperate market, no one wants to sell and clubs need to find a replacement so unless you overpay which is what stupid clubs do then you need to expect some negotiation and some hold up, it's not a big deal.

I know Ange wants a CB in early doors but he's not a child, he's not stupid and knows how the market works in fact he this is what he pretty much said:

If you can bring them in early, even if they don’t play you can bed them into training and our style of football because it’s not like we’re going to sign somebody and they’ll hit the ground running.

Whereas if you leave it towards the end of January, it’s potentially not until mid to end of February when they get up to speed, depending where they’re coming from, the league they’re coming from, so there’s a whole lot of moving parts.

So, yes, I’d love to do something early in the window but even me saying that puts a challenge on us, because other clubs know we want to do something early.

You’ve got to play the game, we’ll see what happens but I’m hopeful it will be much earlier than the end of the window before we bring someone in.

In reality he wants players in early but what he is saying is that he doesn't want it dragged out to the end of the month.

Afternoon everyone, hope you’re doing well. Here’s a 3 minute video detailing everything you need to know about Radu Dragusin for those interested. While there are obvious limitations to his game (which I’ve highlighted), I think he’ll be a great foil to the central defensive options already at the club. Really looking forward to seeing how he gets on in the Prem. As always, feel free to ask me any questions you may have, cheers!

Well clearly I think they are working on targets as did our other DOFs of which there has been several . As for Levy I believe he will be sticking his nose in. where it is neither needed or welcome . I also believe he will be not just setting the price but will be overseeing the structure of all payments . This is only my opinion and that is all it is , your opinion is no better informed unless you can explain why it is

Well we are where we are, as I have been saying we did a lot of good work in the Summer but a bit of that was undone when we didn't get another CB in and when everyone decided to let go of Sanchez so we are in this position collectively.

If our scouting is spot on like it has been and Ange backs himself like he's been saying then there's no reason why he can't play at OT and settle in.

Show me a trophy winning club that left the squad with 2 adequate CBs for the first half of the season.

Let's be honest, it might have happened and early transfers for a 3rd CB in January may have happened but neither are relevant because they aren't this club and this squad.

Nobody is saying it's easy to get deals done but the club is looking like it's not in any rush to get this one done, depsite all the noise about getting it done early in January, or through the door this week.

This is a tired and old narrative which I don't believe but if that is indeed the case and Levy was sticking his nose in then looking at our business over the last few windows why is that a bad thing?
