Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Totally. It is only coming from one Italian report anyway which is biased and probably bollocks.

Will only start to worry if the likes of Romano start tweeting that he's said yes to Juventus.
Even the link to us is likely noise not just that he has turned us down. I used to know some real ITK contacts and most of what they said didn't play out.

I think it happens to some level. Obviously they have their own scouts and data but they can be influenced by who other clubs are after if they've a good record of singing players. Chelsea would be notorious for doing their homework late on a player once they see certain clubs after them
Just look at how Chelsea gasumped us for both Willian and Ross Barkley. Both were in for medicals with us but then Chelsea pounced.

In most organisations, the number of people knowing any first hand detail about an acquisition is remarkably small - so anyone picking up information from inside that organisation unless its from one of a small group are almost bound to be wrong as even if the story was originally correct, time has moved on and negotiations have broken down, time has moved on and the organisation's target or the leaked infoimation was about only one of several possible targets etc.

Problem is we never know the source of an ITK's information, so don't know how good it is. At Spurs probably the best ITK was from JJSet for a time (rumoured to be Donna Cullen's brother) or another guy who used to find accommodation for players etc But for last 5 years or so almost all these sources seem to have dried up.

Whether you like or hate Levy, when he wants to play ball he has the skills and money to get deals done. E.g. stepping in to get the Dragusin deal over the line. You would suspect with Muani, the club were/are trying to negotiate a favourable deal but when there’s competition you sometimes need to be flexible and act decisively. Unlike Juve who have money issues and many moving parts, you would think if Spurs (inc Levy) are serious about Muani that they will act accordingly to seal the deal.

Beat Bayern to Dragusin last January. Barca to Bergvall as well.

Juve is a bluff anyway IMO. They are big on Araujo and will only do a loan for RKM unless they can shift Vlahovic, which they won't.

In the past we'd have no chance but financially no reason we should lose out to Juve these days.

Yeah you’re comparing younger players, Dragon -22 and Bergvall 18 to RKM 26.

I’m sure he has very different priorities. Unfortunately. I’m sure playing time and wages are close. But winning something & European comps in the near future tilts the scale heavily to Juve.

We will add a few players this window and I reckon that in the Summer window, our squad will be completed.
feels game of thrones GIF

You believe other clubs hijack deals without scouting the player first. That makes no sense.

Of course they do. And for many reasons as well.

1) Let another team do the dog work negotiating fees and wages, even a medical, before stepping in at the 11th hour and matching it all.
2) Was on the list for the summer window, but new teams interest expedites the move
3) Wasn't aware the player was available at all but now known, time to move for them

Probably a number of other reasons too.

Juve are miles off where they used to be. Their squad is pretty limited these days. They’re not in the title race, out of the Super Cup, mid table in the Champions League but still in the Coppa Italia. They’ve limited resources whilst needing to significantly improve their squad to be competitive. If we were up against say Napoli or Inter then yes, panic but not Juve.

BTW I really hope I'm wrong and we do sign RKM as that would be a real statement signing and would hugely increase our chances of winning a trophy this season!
To be honest I don't know much about him apart from his progression at Frankfurt and he went to PSG.
I'm not someone who claims to follow every league and also not someone who thinks their own opinion of a player is superior.
If the club are fully behind Ange, which I think they still are and he wants the player and thinks he will do well for us then that trumps any knowledge or opinion I have of the player.

Wages

He's 26 and this will be his last big contract, his priority will 100% be wages.

We can beat Juve on wages so we should be heavy favourites if we really want him.

Massive club and glammour name on your CV though as a player.
Sadly the same still applies to United hence they often sign players ahead of us.
