Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yes in November 10 matches ago, it's now January.

Utd are Utd, Spurs are Spurs there's an absolute chasm of history prestige and success between the clubs.

They aren't backing him so far because they're in PSR trouble...they obviously will do when their finances are sorted.

PSR trouble and new owners who don’t want to spend because they need to build a new stadium..,

Not exactly the opportunity it used to be at that club .

They paid him well though

it's isn't obvious at all.

We were "Dr tottenham" and "never win fuck all" prior to us bringing in Mourinho and Conte. You think high flying Bournemouth or Brighton or even Villa would be able to attract that calibre of manager?

You pay these managers enough and they'll come. if anything they come now with it being as bad as it possibly can be so very little pressure.

It doesn't really matter now anyway as literally any manager (including Mason) would get more out of our players then Ange has. if we survive then it becomes an attractive option for a manager again. We have the nucleus of a good squad.

A good manager will realise that wining something with Spurs would be their greatest ever achievement, any manager's greatest achievement.

So, Man UTD one place above us couldn't persuade a player to join them either?

Of course players will come.
They're Man Utd.

We're Spurs.

Both doing shite right now but they're a proper big club that's won big things recently...and their trophy cabinet is 100 times the size of ours. Their manager is struggling at the moment, but any player with a brain will know Amorim has forgotten things about football that Ange will never ever know...and that once he's built his own squad, they'll go places. And they pay top club wages.

I’d say that’s >50% chance of being the case.

But I absolutely wouldn’t be surprised if these players lost at Brentford but showed up at Anfield and Villa Park.
I can guarantee you right now we won’t turn up against Liverpool. Tie will be over by half time. Villa maybe because they are bang average just now. Brentford is the type of game that can easily go any way but right now it all points to a loss.

Pay them they will come. Players or coaches it makes no difference. You persuade their agent you are prepared to spend the money, they will come.

It’s their business to take the money and money is the only logic in this business.

The level of naivety on this still is confusing. It’s 2025, any pretense that it’s any different died when City and Newcastle proved how important money is to football decision making

The only reasons I can think of to keep Ange are:

1. He has not lost the dressing room.
2. Vicario, Romero, VdV, Udogie etc. will be back soon and we will improve.
2. In a one off game against a bigger team Ange can beat anyone (as we've seen against Man U, Man C and Liverpool in the League Cup this season).

This season is all about the cups and Ange has a better chance of winning them for us than anyone else this season. I wouldn't change manager until we're out of the EL.

Meh

Amorim just turned 40. He’s a star boy still learning the ropes. Looks talented but says and does dumb things every week.

Right now I’d say this season is all about not getting relegated tbh.

I don't think we have any squad places available to sign players...especially foreign ones. Since we only have 3 club trained players, we lose 1 space. So 24 man squad.

Such a shame we can't employ some staff to figure out this bothersome work. Like someone who is in charge of football operations. We could call him the chief football officer or something who could work alongside a technical director. They could spend every day from the summer window closing to the January one opening to figure all these puzzles out.

Let’s see. Honestly, I think this squad will be well up for Liverpool and they will have had a mental schedule of much more intense games.
It looked cut and dried before the home game too…

Those are exactly the reasons he’s not been sacked already mate. No ifs no buts about it.

A new manager would be more expensive too.

The squad is bereft of confidence. It needs players to return or ti be brought in, to be together, and to start making itself harder to beat.

None of that just arrives without a stimulant and all the supposition , optimism or gut feeling won't change that.

Bringing in decent players also has a positive mental affect. The cavalry’s arriving, players are human, you have to give them hope. I have always even years prior got the impression Levy has no human understanding. It’s like the players are cars to him, he doesn’t understand the feeling and emotions of it all.
