Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They are nowhere near the races. Both will be lucky to start in the championship. League 1 loans probably more realistic.

I do find it funny how some fans just assume they should be playing more. There is levels to the game and they are nowhere near premier league standard. I hope they get there some day but its a long journey for them

Lankshear wasn't trusted against Tamworth.

Maybe it's a consequence of how the team are fairing right now that he didn't play that match as we were missing numbers and low on confidence but that tells you right now he shouldn't be playing Premier League matches especially in our current plight.

We should still be looking at exciting talent, but also experience to go along with that.

Dibling would be a great signing. We missed out on the likes of Eze, Olise and Bowen because we thought they weren't ready.
Eze, Olise and Bowen had all been killing it in the league. Dibling can't be compared to those guys based on accomplishment so far.

Rather buy someone proven straight away rather than praying and hoping that 50m will not turn into shit again. At this rate we're going to waste hundreds of millions without any real impact on the team.

Lange and the Aussies shouldn't be in charge of the transfers. They've taken us to 15th. That's all they did.

England fans were making mess up the wall about Gomes. Is he shit now? Just need clarity for the next international window.

Don't really care about some mystic "England fans" think.
And for the record - I do not even pretend to know much about Gomes. But I have watched Premier League football for decades. Across that time there has been one midfielder under 1,7 meters who has been really impressive. Kante.
Even shorties like Modric and Bernardo Silva are ~172-174 cm tall.

Looking at how we are expected to play right now, I have massive reservations bringing a half-sized midfielder into the mix.
I can be wrong ofc.

I doubtb that and name the last South American starlet to grace the PL?
Alvarez was bought for much lower. Real Madrid spent big for Brazilian talent with Vinicius. This kid doesn't look amazing by any means. 2 goals and 1 assist. Why should we believe that we're going to get goals from him?

We keep recruiting from the bottom and that's where we will stay.

Lange and his team can't find a decent signing and now need to go for the bottom clubs and pay crazy prices because the player is homegrown. It's a recipe for disaster as we've seen with BJ.

And if we get Dibling, it's only because no other clubs wants him badly. They don't believe the hype, just like they didn't believe in BJ.

But if Dibling went to a Bournemouth and did as well as expected he can, you'd be the first on here complaining we didn't sign him.

Bowen, Eze and Olise were doing it in the championship, but a portion of our fanbase thought we were better than them and that we should not accept championship signings.

And you may have said the same of Alli or possibly Bale.

Take the point and of course it's a risk.

I agree we have immediate needs that have to he addressed and should be our primary focus.

I'm not the biggest xG / xA fan but it does show something. I wouldn't pay top dollars for an attacker with those stats.

Esp not an 18 yo. From that age, there's absolutely no guarantee that the player will come good. Many of his peers will most definitely catch up. A lot has to do with biological age. 10 m, OK. But I see numbers like 50m. I don't know if it's true or just baseless rumours, but spending that kind of money on him is CRAZY.

But I'm sure that it's the kind of shit that the Aussies will do. Because they don't have to face any questions until in a few years. For now they will just say, he is young and will come good in 1-2 years. And by the time we realize that he's a flop, they'll be gone from the club anyway.

Don't spend money on overrated English kids. Been there, done that. They almost always fail. BJ, Grealish...

The good English players we had we got for peanuts. Kane coming through the club but also Dele, Dier, Rose, Walker.. We didn't pay top dollars for them. The kids that are hyped never turn out good.

Gordon and Palmer. Yes, they were outstanding. You can't compare Dibling with either of them. He's so unproven.

I mean, fine but if Ange doesn’t survive, which coach are they finding to play all these young players?

Squad badly needs players ready to go now

Iraola seems to be developing Kerkez, Illbarnya (what’s his name!) and Huijsen pretty well.

Agree we need some fully developed players, but the youngsters this season in Gray and Bergvall, seem to be doing well enough, to be equivocal to those Bournemouth players next season anyway.

Think in our position a couple of gambles on high talents, in that early 20’s bracket (with issues, otherwise no chance), is worth it (say Cherki, might be a dickhead, but a boost of top 3rd technical quality and retention could yield a huge boost across the team, right now).

Just think we’ve no hope of getting prime £40-60m players right now, look at the gossip pages, 8-10 teams above our desirability level are trying to be in the market (probably more if you factor loan to summer perms, when budgets reset).

Yes, but it's a massive IF.

From what I've seen of Dibling, he's nowhere near any of the guys you mentioned.

It's all extremely basic what he does. Any X-factor? Please show clips of that.

I’m so frazzled and would so like someone who puts their foot in in midfield I’m not as mad at the suggestion as I should be.
With the gaps we leave, it would need to be pretty huge feet.

To me he is overrated. Nobody was even talking about him until Lee Carsley called him up and everyone got excited that England have a new midfielder. He became the shiny new toy that everyone talked up. He's 24 and doing well for lille. Does that mean he'll be a hit in the prem? I'm not sure. He's very lightweight and not exactly the profile we need.

He isn't a physical box to box so he solves none of our problems. I don't think he'd start over Bentancur and I'm not sure he would play beside him. Bergval and Gray could easily pass him out next year. He'd be an upgrade on Bissouma and Sarr but Sarr is younger than him and has a more physical profile so Sarr could still be more important for us.

Thats just my opinion on him. I might be wrong. If we get him for free then great but he solves none of our issues and would not be a guaranteed starter.

Not really bought into the Iraola hype. Not yet anyway. I rate him but we should be aiming to win things. Let’s just see how his season ends up before getting carried away.
