If De Zerbi thinks he can be a starter then sign him, it not going to be a starter then we should move on. He's too expensive in terms of fee and wages to be a sub and infairness to the lad he's too good at what he does to be a sub for the likes of us. Happy to leave it to RDZ on this one

I’ll never rate him in the long run, but that was his best game of the season for me, simply because he wasn’t a black hole in possession for once.

Credit to RDZ for shifting him to the right in build up so he wasn’t given central responsibility where he’s actively harmful.

In games like yesterday he is immense! He's exactly the type of player and character we need for this relegation fight. I love his passion and energy. His goal last week against Wolves could be one of our biggest goals ever!

Does he have a future at spurs after this season? Not for me. Too limited. But cult hero forever if we stay up

We have this habit of overrating players off the back of one decent game or when they are out with a long term injury. No denying, he was an absolute juggernaut yesterday, but lets not forget he's been utter gash for most of the season. He will be 31 in July and I wouldn't be paying the 30m euro option. Maybe for 10m-15m I might be willing to take a chance on RDZ getting more out of him than the previous incumbents. But there is no way I'm paying 30m.

Yep, a simple yet elegant solution which maintains the solidity he gives us but gives porro more chance to progress the ball. It's amazing what happens when you have a competent manager. Frank is the worst manager in the history of the league

This man was unfairly frozen out, was held back by poor management, and yet he fights for his place under RDZ and is undroppable now.

I may not rate him in a vacuum but his passion and commitment to saving us I definitely rate, he has got the stones and desire and that’s enough.

If Richarlison is just the sort of personality you want in a relegation scrap then I think JP is cut from the same stuff.
when was he frozen out?

He’s not been anywhere near gash this season. Been our most important player. And our most consistent. Second most successful tackles in the league. And most per 90 minutes. By a mile.

He won’t be the guy slipping cheeky through balls to the attack. He won’t be pinging 30 yard free kicks into the top corner either. He does dirty work and he does it well. Doesn’t make him gash. Just not very shiny and pretty.

The one thing I’ve been surprised by is he has a goal in him. An added bonus.

I think he played well and he's clearly a great pro to have around the squad but there's a danger of reading too much into a performance against a fucking terrible Villa team. Most Villa fans seem to think that was their worst ever performance under Emre - that's how bad it was.

My worry is how he'd fare up against better teams that target his limitations on the ball and pressure him/exploit his passing game. I think De Zerbi's coaching mitigates that issue somewhat - unlike under Frank our players now seem to know where to go and where to pass the ball, but he won't have many easier games than that Villa one.

I'm willing to just trust De Zerbi on this one tbh. If he wants him and thinks he can make it work - sure go for it. If he wants a more technical option in there, get someone in. Or maybe even both?

I beg to differ...

Yep. Only three players this season have real credit (so far): JP, Gray and Danso. Behind them I'd have Tel and Richie.

Insane not to sign him.

I can see a 3 year deal coming. He merits it, and is an asset.

Lots of his haters on here were saying he would never fit with RDZ system ... check the posts. How wrong they were.

No chance. It'll be time for Gray to step up next year. Funny feeling we could bid for Alex Scott too once Bissouma is out the door. Palhinha has won my respect but he's never getting made perm!
