Quite a few pundits think that Rodon was the best, or at least one of the best, defenders in Championship in the season just gone by.

If Leeds had owned him, I'm quite sure they would be asking £25m+ for his services.

Who would buy him other than Leeds ? Southampton, who beat Leeds in the Championship play offs would be one club. Rodon also looked very good playing for Rennes in French league, so wouldn't be a surprise if he went to a French club. Still only 26 and a Welsh international so no reason not to expect a decent fee for him.

Leeds may want £x million for Gray but given Wharton ( a more experienced player in Championship) cost £18m on his transfer from Blackburn to Palace, there is no way anyone should believe we are paying £25m (more than Wharton cost by himself) plus a player to get Gray.

Rodon is probably a £15 m - £20m by himself, which is why if Leeds want and value him (as has been said in recent months) than even a few million plus Rodon would make Gray one of the most expensive players bought from the Championship - players more expensive would include Spurs buying Madison for circa £40m from a relegated Leicester, but Madison vastly more experienced than Gray.

Of course if Leeds don't want to sell Gray then no deal is possible. Rodon has a decent record for a Championship/lower PL side so other clubs will be suitors

If Leeds want to accept a £25m offer (of Rodon plus £5m - £10m) for Gray it gets them the defensive leader they had this year plus money to buy another decent player for the championship (and as they have other RBs at the club they can choose which other positions to reinforce). Ball in their court
They won’t accept 5m and Rodon you mental

Agree - he will yield a higher fee than Royal, PEH, Gill and GLC. My mate follows Leeds and reckons he was easily their best player and likely best in championship

Too good for the Championship but not quite good enough for a top PL team.

If he was good enough for a top team his price tag would be £40m - £80m depending upon how good he was.

With him being a top class Championship defender fully able to perform at a lower PL side, wanting to get £15m to £20m for him is realistic (even leaking that his price should really be £25m ) all looks to be in the ball park

A Dyche type defender perhaps? Trouble is, they've no money.

I think Leeds probably need to sell players (they gambled this season on p[promotion by spending too much) - so if they sell a player to get in a player they want/need plus some cash, its a good deal for them : maybe loan a good youngster to them, but on better terms as lending them Spence was bad business as they often didn't play him

If we pay more than 10m (15m including add ons) plus Rodon its a bad deal for us and we need to move on sell Rodon for cash elsewhere and buy other players

Gray has played one season in Championship and whilst he looks good there is no certainty he will be a top class player at Spurs, so no sense in throwing money at him.

The financial issues are not as bad as the headlines make out it seems. They owe £190mil in transfer debt but they don't need to pay this all now.

Sinisterra is being made perm for £20mil to Bournemouth, Harrison, Roca and Wober were out on loan last season and should fetch a fee.

Summerville will fetch them a decent price.

Yeah our transfer debt is about that and we don’t need to panic sell. I don’t see how it is an issue for them.
