Ex-Spurs Player Joe Rodon

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So many of our fans are clueless. The guy is making his first premier league start against a team with the best attack in the league (apart from our own). We keep a clean sheet and people dont think Rodon played well?

He made a couple of errors, the header to Lloris that Giroud intercepted and the goal that was chalked off. But he was expected to be nervy since its his first start and the stakes are so high. Those moments will disappear with experience.

The positives far outweigh the negatives. Hes good on the ball. Linked up well with Dier and PEH. He makes nice angles to receive the ball. Hes good in the air, strong in the tackle.

Decent as far as PL debut straight from the championship goes, but did anyone else notice his weird posture at multiple points in the game?

When Reece James has the ball and Rondon/Dier are dropping off Dier is face James and running back sideways, but Rodon was practically doing the backstroke, facing straight towards the back post rather than facing the incoming ball. It seemed to massively hamper his ability to jump for the ball.

Thought he did well enough, all things considered. The question should be - would Sanchez have been any more assured/less error prone in the same situation? I’ve seen people question his part in the Abraham chances, but at the end of the day Tammy didn’t score either of them. Reece James put in some good balls and Joe did enough to hassle his opponent, in my view. Decent reading of the game and a good interception at one point early on. It was, in fairness, a cunt of an initiation game and I am happy with how it went. Swansea fans were livid to lose him (especially at the price we got him for) and I think he will continue to improve.

Sanchez is nowhere near as good on the ball as Rodon. Rodon was very brave in posession.

Weve had Tanganga and Rodon face Liverpool and Chelsea on their debuts and both coped well.

I would sell Sanchez to raise some money and address a need for another midfielder.

We need some backup for Sissoko, Hojberg. Winks cant do that role and is a big step down.

Agree. If we look at the circumstances it was a very decent performance, yes he has played internationals for Wales, but not with the sort of press play he was under today.

I like his pace, his positioning and fighting for the ball. Add a little experience and we got a top top centre half for a very good price.

Really wasn't a decent performance at all...

He had 3 big chances created.... for the opposition. On a different day, Chelsea would have scored 3 goals just off of Rodon's mistakes and we would have been fuming.

If this was a "decent" performance, I'd like to know what a poor performance is.

I'm not saying he can't be a good player, but he absolutely had a dreadful performance.
Poeple's perception of how well he did is based on Giroud and Abraham missing the chances Rodon made for them.

In reality, he started terribly, was okay in the middle and ended not so well either. It was very much a below average debut. Doesnt look as good as Tanganga yet. Hopefully Mourinho starts him in Europa, League Cup and FA cup games before playing him much in the PL.

The lad did well overall despite a couple of mistakes.

The mistakes he did make were hardly worthy of being singled out over other players who also gave some bad balls away. He was aggressive and confident on the ball, dealt with Abraham well. You love to see a young defender walk off the pitch with a clean sheet against a top side and a bleeding lip, I enjoyed his performance.
