RDZ wasn't available last summer, but something tells me even if he was they would've still gone for Frank.

RDZ would've been deemed stylistically too similar to Ange for their liking I reckon. And they wouldn't have been willing to give him so much control back then.

Ofc Frank was better than rdz last summer and now he is langes no1 choice for THIS summer. Did they go through the same process again and realise they put the x’s in the wrong column last year.
They were talking about different summers. I hate these two cunts but even I understood his reference about RDZ being their number 1 candidate in the summer was referring to this upcoming summer not the summer where Frank was the number 1 candidate. But like I said, still a couple of useless Gooner cunts.

I don't think Frank was a terrible appointment. They did obviously miss something in his personality that would not work with these players. Too small a man really. But the guy had a good record at Brentford and it wasn't unreasonable to believe that with better players he would do better. But Lange should absolutely be sacked today for:

- the Jan window, esp. selling Johnson with no replacement
- keeping Frank in the job about 6 weeks too long
- Tudor appointment

I thought that was completely obvious, but the amount of journalists Ive seen get it wrong as well :richclosed:

I have to disagree. I thought it was terrible appointment at the time and I think it's even worse now. They had no check list. If they did he wouldn't have got anywhere near a second interview. He was hired because of the perception that keeping Brentford in the PL on shoestring budget is some sort of miracle achievement akin to managing a club with a budget ten times the size. It isn't. Dave Bassett not only kept Wimbledon in the old Division 1 year after year, he made them competitive and then Bobby Gould did the same when he replaced Bassett. By far a bigger achievement than keeping Brentford in mid table. Neither of them got a top job because it just doesn't relate. Frank had also never juggled playing twice a week, a fact he demonstrated when he could only get a result once a week and for us it was in a competition we had no chance of winning which impacted our ability to pick up points on a regular basis in the PL. All in all, it was a "media" pick... Vinai and Lange got a hard on for Frank because the press and media made him out to be some kind of managerial god when in effect he's your standard mid/lower table manager who had found the right spot with a loyal owner who had no delusion of grandeur. And then if you studied his footballing principles, you would quickly realise his style was typical of most Scandinavian coaches. Compact, robust and everyone behind the ball with little room for flair or imagination. I pointed all this out in the summer. He lucked out with some serious individual attacking talent at Brentford but look at his replacement and how well he is doing with a far weaker squad. During that summer, we should have made Iraola our top target. I am happy with RDZ for now but Iraola was the one and is probably in line for a big move this summer. Maybe the bin dippers or Newcastle.

1)Sold Johnson

2)Saw Kudus get injured in early January and prognosis was long term injury

3) saw other players falling like flies

4) saw Odobert was the last natural wide fit player we had

Conclusion

To tell us we shouldn't panic buy and players will be back from injury soon.
