Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think a bit of patience is required here.

Still see the squad as rebuilding personally. Yes, we have quite a bit of talent but in terms of challenging for the title and consistently performing well we really need to shift a few on and sign a couple more quality players to compete consistently with the best teams.

The aim this season was always top 4 and a trophy, maybe next season we should be more demanding.

Since his arrival, can somebody list the games we have played well in for a full 90 minutes.

It's been utter shite since his arrival, more or less.

I feel insulted having to watch Tottenham play this way week in, week out.

Proper manager, serial winner, he wins trophies etc. Utter nonsense.

Unless he's managed this exact club, with these exact players, in this exact set of circumstances, the past counts for precisely fuck all.

I legitimately have probably watched 25% of actual game time. The rest of the game is just background music at this point.

Some people can call me a shit fan, but I'm sorry. There are other games on at the same time and I watch football to be entertained first and foremost. Right now, we are anything but entertaining.

That goes for the thrashings of SH and MU. SH we were shit the first half and bar 5 amazing plays by individuals, the rest of the game was a bore. MU? Took them going down to 10 men to get something out of the game.

Yeah I was pretty much watching Milan vs Sassuolo - cracking game too.

This is my issue with the appointment and this removes the entertainment factor or even ability to win titles. I fear the aftermath of Jose.

I just don't see ENIC going all out again, especially with the aftermath of the pandemic and the lack of revenue. We will be tight pursed once he leaves. And for what? A media circus?

He gets judged on results, when they were good he was being bigged up on here (often to Poch's detriment which I didn't understand) now they've been poor he gets hammered. It's a results game, if we lose the next 3 games his position would be under threat, that's the way of it, win the next 3 and he's back in the good books.

The football isn't nice to watch always and that makes it doubly hard for him because, as he goes to great lengths to tell everyone, it's all about titles, winning at all costs, look at my record etc.

Great when you're on top and winning but not so great when you're not.

If Jose doesn't deliver titles and a team challenging for the league he should be judged on it, it's why he gets paid the big bucks and why he's here.

People might argue 'judge him at the end' which is fine but some people after we went top were talking like we'd won the league already, cunting off Poch, proclaiming Jose's brand of football as the only way to win titles and hammering anyone who dared to say ' I don't always like the football '.

This isn't a ' told you so post ', this is a ' it's not black and white, we don't have to slag off the past to justify the present or future, let's remember that good football DOES win titles and a bit of temperance is required ' post.

We all want to win stuff, we're fans after all, some people don't care about style, some do but the criteria for playing well hasn't suddenly been rewritten overnight.

We didn't play well second half against Woolwich, the victory should've been celebrated of course but I didn't like the second half performance where we couldn't string two passes together and I'm not surprised we've had the results we've had since. I read some posts proclaiming that second half as some sort of tactical master class - it wasn't, it wasn't even what he asked the players to do. Winning and playing badly isn't sustainable as we're finding out, especially against the lesser teams.

I hope it turns itself around soon and Jose comes up with a solution, win the next 3 and we're back in the game, but let's not get too carried away if we ever get top again after 10 games. I still remember West Ham being top at Xmas years ago, it doesn't mean much, performances are the true indicator after all.

Basically if we are shit, you told us so. But if we win, well meh? Some fan!

Not what I said at all. Let's not get carried away either way was the general point and attacking me as a fan isn't acceptable at all. If you disagree with my post then explain why rationally, don't question my fan credentials.
halothagod halothagod is on a tear right now. He doesn't want to exchange ideas, he wants to prove you are a shit fan.

He's not doing a very good job of it.

If Jose gets results he'll be judged on it, it's that simple, that's the world he lives in, he's not interested in style, never has been.

I don't like it, it's not my way, but I won't hold it against him, I'll celebrate like mad, I'll applaud him when he gets tactics right (like against Liverpool). He's being true to himself and that's not something to hold against him.

But poor performances are poor performances, the result doesn't change that and they will catch up with you (as they did in Poch's last year). I thought we were a load better against Liverpool than we were against Woolwich for example but our performances have been hit and miss generally, some good, some ok, some bad.

Liverpool are stylish and also pragmatic, the best teams are, including the double winning side.
Attack well, defend well, have a balanced approach, work hard, play as a team, every top class side has done this. We did it the season we came 2nd to Chelsea with 86 points, it's not some mysterious Holy Grail that isn't achievable.

Jose plays football his way because that's what he knows, he has a formula and an approach that is a reflection of him as a person and that's fine. Let's just not dress it up as anything else. He can't play football like Pep does anymore than Pep can play footy like he does. It's a reflection on them, who they are, what they believe in, their psychology, upbringing.

Which one we prefer is a reflection on us, doesn't mean we can't appreciate the other style but our preference isn't gonna change. I love watching Bayern Munich for example, at it's best it's amazing football and it gets results. Jose will never play football like that even with the exact same squad, let's not pretend otherwise - and i'll never enjoy it as much.

Apologies if I come across that way. We are getting it from all barrels from oppo fans and I feel we are exaggerating a bit on here.
I get it, man. There are always going to be differing opinions on a team's performance and personnel.

We all want to win. I don't think that is something you can question any fan of. We just differ on how we get there.

Too much "you are an idiot" on these boards and not enough "I respect your take, but disagree."

This isn't a black and white subject.

I hope that Jose will look again at his tactics after the recent poor results. We started the season playing much more aggressively and I understand that he was concerned at the way we were conceding goals.

It was sensible after the West Ham humiliation to challenge the team to defend first and show they could keep clean sheets. They did that well and taking Davinson and Winks out of the squad was a correct decision but we’ve gone too far now. We need to find a better balance and find a way to have more control in midfield.

I know Mourinho likes for opponents to have the ball and for his team to pounce on their mistakes, but if the opponent doesn’t make any mistakes then you have to have another way to play.

Well said. :mourloopy:
