Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I make no apologies for thinking that Jose would be successful for us, and that the time was right for Poch to move on.
I also don't blame Levy for being taken in by Jose's charm and his CV. Like a lot of people, think we knew that it wouldn't be a long-term appointment and that it would go tits-up by season 3, but in the meantime, we would get some precious silverware into that empty trophy cabinet.
But the poison has got into our Club at every single level and we need to suck it out now - not tomorrow, next week or the end of the season.
The players have to take some of the blame for the mess we find ourselves in. I can excuse them not always being very good, but can't forgive lack of effort.
As someone else posted, I would give the reins over to Ledley and play the kids - they can't make a worse job of things than the current shower in charge/playing.
I have seen many embarrassing games over the last 50 years, but yesterday was probably the worst ever.
In complete agreement Mrs P.

I agree with everything you have written there. I think we have 110 years of support/attendance between us. Home and away in the UK and abroad and that was up there for the most abject capitulation I have ever had the misfortune to witness.

José would never resign. He ain’t the Joker to burn free money. Levy will have to pay

There will be a compromise, otherwise Jose will not be allowed to do work at all until his contract is up, and would just be put on garden leave, picking up a salary, but be totally out of the public eye for a couple of years.
It will be in his, and our best interests to come to an agreement, so he can carry on with his career, and we don't need to pay full compensation.

I read this somewhere,

A reminder that Mourinho has been allowed to spend £92 million (net) whilst at Spurs - a total that is just £8 million short of what Pochettino spent in 5 seasons at the club.

Spurs changed their whole philosophy & spending habits for him and he’s taken them backwards.

Scary if correct.

I think the biggest problem with Mourinho is that he has favorites. He doesn't have the ability to over time create a group that works for each other, the confrontational leadership, the hanging out people after games creates this kind of shit. And this interview with Lloris shows that something is rotten in the changing room. The sooner we get rid of that Neanderthal leader the sooner we can repair what's wrong. Probably we have to ditch some players also.

I think this is just patently false. How come that’s what he’s been successful at in all the other places he’s managed? Have you seen grown men crying when he’s left a club?

I have heard him say things to the effect of building a family bond, fighting for the team, in the Amazon doc. Whatever is the reason here, the players aren’t listening.

Remembering the days we were top, thrashed United and put them in their place and saw off City and Woolwich and shackled Chelsea.

Such happy days. Take us back there Jose!!!

I still thought we were very unconvincing during this time.

So basically all that has happened is we've delayed the inevitable by 2 years. Instead of rebuilding in 2019, we are doing it in 2021. It's basically the worst possible outcome of the last 2 seasons.

Regardless, Mourinho can't and shouldn't be in charge of that process.

I said at the outset I was willing to take a trade off with Mourinho: accept fairly stagnant football in return for a trophy or two.

We look a mile off a team capable of competing, let alone winning anything, and some of the football is the most stagnant and reactive I have ever seen as a Spurs fan.

Tempted in a way to see if he can win the League Cup but the more I see the more I just think the man is poison in the club Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman

Oh and I'd definitely want to see quite a few players shipped out in the summer. Too many average players and some bad attitudes that let down both Mourinho and Poch.

I just can’t see it happening. Not in current (Covid) world.

My hope is that Levy is now talking to our next manager and putting things in place for the Summer.

If he’s not and he’s still crossing his fingers and hoping Jose turns it around then people need to smell the coffee and realise who the problem at this club is.
Rather than talk to our fucking next manager how about he listen to this one sat in front of him who’s been in the game and seen it all. Some of these players are not good enough. End of. Nagelsman won’t turn Winks into Pirlo, nor Dier into Maldini FFS. So why wait till he comes only to waste a season and then start panicking trying to get the replacements in?

Poch was sacked because of these same players, so now that we have brought in someone with pedigree at least complete the squad rebuild before he leaves, at least so that the new bloke has less dross to work with!

I was so pro Jose cos I am tired of rebuild managers. And say what you want about Jose, he had us sat at the summit for some weeks. If that’s not pointing to what he wants to do I don’t know what is.

I don’t want another manager coming here only to go after top 4 year in year out. So help them actually win. They can’t do that with some of the players in the squad.

He should have been sacked for picking a starting lineup with Winks and Sissoko in the middle and Davies and Dier in defence. Why start with 4 of the worst players we have.

This cup was the reason he was still in the job and he fucked it up by not going with his best 11.
While I agree with you, who can you pick:

PEH (suspended) - Sissoko or youth or nobody
Tanguy (rested) - Winks or who? Who can play as Tanguy does for the team?

So if you mean he should’ve started Tanguy, do you not see how leggy and gassed he looked when he came on? Perhaps we don’t want to stink out the league and maybe actually climb up the table, so maybe Tanguy was being given whatever rest was possible?

Again, who in the squad do you play to give Tanguy a rest? Serious question.

100%. Didn't want him but accepted him as there was a chance we might actually win something. We aren't winning anything and at least half the players have thrown their toys out of the pram because despite being shit they think they should still be playing.

He (along with 5-6 players with shit attitudes/lack of ability) has to go asap.
Don't even have to sell the players - just don't play them. Send them to the U23s. You don't have to sell a player to get rid of them. Poch did this his first season and it worked great.

It's probably what will need to happen in the summer because it's going to be impossible to offload too many contracts in the current football economy.

This all hinges on Levy, not only for hiring him in the first place and giving him more money than he’s ever given one of our managers, but also now for not sacking him at numerous points this season.

Ive always backed Levy as I think he has slowly taken us forwards off the pitch to the point we are now a huge club

But the constant failings on it are on his shoulders also
Levy made more mistakes in the last 3 years of his tenure then he did in his first 17.

It's really been an organizational disaster since 2018.
