Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The usage of this squad has been terrible. We have Bale, Son and Kane up front and no tactics to use them properly. At end of season we may lose all three, so we would have had our greatest attacking force ever with our most incompetent attacking manager ever. Only Spurs could do that!!
They've got goals in them, no doubt, but not much of a midfield behind them. One of the big issues here, mind you, is that when it comes to pressing, two of them look like a pair of grandads shuffling around the house in their slippers at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. I just wonder how Nagelsmann would deal with an issue like that.

I think this is on the players more than Jose.
He is called a dinosaur for outdated tactics etc, yet nobody is calling moyes a dinosaur with west ham playing the same as Everton from 03/04.
This is on the players thinking they are better than they are and not bothering to put in a shift.
Even if the hate mourinho winning a game raises everyone’s profile. Losing on purpose only hurts the club and the fans . Those players don’t give a shit about us.

Don’t get it really if the ultimatum from levy to jose is top 4 and LC. Surely josecwouldnt stand for that knowing that if he doesn’t achieve that his fired. It’s win win for him anyway as he gets paid off but his working with a loaded gun to his head. Also he would we would looking at possible successors. Not sure his ego could stand that. It would make sense cut loose now.
I can only think there are performance related clauses that would affect any payout. Probably champions league and trophy related so maybe he has to wait for us to fail to sack him for a lot less. We all know he's going, he knows he's going but we're stuck in this ridiculous limbo.

I would imagine Naglesmann would get a much better tune out of talented players like Ndombele and Lo Celso when we start to play a pass and move game.

Yeah, who would have thought that getting Top 4 and to a Champions League final in his last season, is actually a cause to blame our former manager for.

Ridiculous narrative that iz futbal iz futbal constantly repeats.

If only we could be that unsuccessful again.
Yea it was amazing management that caused Llorente's handball goal to be counted and for Lucas to score a ridiculous hattrick in 30 minutes only to be not picked for the final.:pochcmon:

I said elsewhere....

Top 4 (with or without any cups) - he stays
Outside 4 with LC win - he's gone
Outside 4 with EL win - he stays
Outside top 4 with both EL & LC wins - he stays

With the chance of EL gone and although top 4 is possible it's not probable, So I think Levy needs to act now, not wait till summer.

No European football is a nightmare for the club, the fans and Levy.

Never thought I'd be in this state of mind again but years ago (when we regularly finished midtable), my favourite rant in the pub after matches was, "I reckon I could spend the weekend over Hackney Marshes and pick 11 players who'd be able to give us a game".
Right now, don't think I need Hackney Marshes, could go door knocking down my street and get a team together.

:wansum:

So because we beat Brentford at the start of January, we should leave a failed manager in charge until the end of April, another 5 or 6 weeks from now?

I said it two or three weeks back, that would be madness.

It remains madness.

Since that epic win over Brentford, we’ve plummeted out of contention for the title, top four, and been knocked out of the FA Cup and the Europa League.

But yeah, give him another 5 weeks so he can have a crack at the League Cup final.
Weve not been winning things in over a decade. Whats 5 more weeks.

Yes, he would. But what would he do with guys that cannot press? And I don't know the answer to that question, by the way. When you watch teams like Leeds and RBL, you will see that almost all of their players have bags of pace. We don't have that kind of vitality in our squad.

Vinnie, Lucas, Bergwijn up top are fast, Skipp coming back, PEH, Sess coming back, Lamela (if not injured), Regulion, Lo Celso (if not injured) We have a number of players who are mobile and can press if that is needed but some of the personnel would be switched for sure.

I don't agree with your assessment. Most of those guys need to be moved on. Two are sicknotes, as you say yourself. Guys like Bergwijn may have some improvement in them, but it is almost impossible for us to say they are worthy of a club that demands top-4 finishes/title challenges. And for all his workrate and pashun, Hojbjerg is very compromised in terms of his mobility. We can't lay it all at the door of fatigue, either. I saw this in him when he played for Southampton. He shouldn't be an automatic starter for us.

Whilst I don't disagree with this obviously, it would be an ideal scenario to get someone in such as a Nagelsmann to rebuild the squad, get rid of deadwood and integrate players such as Skipp, Parrott, Cirkin, Sess and potentially Scarlett in to the first team squad with just one game a week.

Means we could get rid of even more deadwood.

You be very surprised at what players can do with a manager who imbues confidence and a decent plan. We have had this many times before with Ramos to Redknapp and AVB/Sherwood to Poch.

The squad Poch inherited looked dead, Dembele was lazy, Rose was unfit, Walker was a mess, Eriksen disappeared all the time, Verts seemed disinterested. The discussions on this forum in relation to the squad where worse than they are now, many thought that squad had to be replaced wholesale and the loss of prime Bale meant we had nothing left.

Many of those players who where thought of as crap transformed. That’s why it’s hard to judge what this squad can do with the dinosaur in charge. We know Sissoko ain’t going to get better, but Bergwijn is a talented player and we have no idea if he can be top draw or needs to go and only a good modern manager will be able to make that call.

It's a good idea however, I doubt Nagelsmann would come to us with no European football.
