In which case I struggle with how this sale was 'on our own terms' at all.

- City got what they wanted (money no particular issue).
- KW got a move to a so-called big club, dictate destination and got a fat pay-rise.
- 'We're' left trying to kid ourselves "Yeh, we really stuck it to City... KWs shit... " only for them to over the coming weeks spend the same amount against on the other flank and rubbish any notion of a 'premium price' (re: EPL ready, Best in league, long contract, strengthening a competitor, first XI stalwart).

I think Trips will be 1st choice but will rotate with someone younger like Perreira/KWP. The impact of the decision can only really be judged in the future, it's just a guessing game for now.

If Poch didn't want him, it's absolutely on our terms though.

Obviously something has happened between him and Poch to trigger him leaving. The other players often raise the fact that Poch has been instrumental in their career development, but not him I guess. Did not hear him mention Poch once only Levy was singled out! I respect other peoples opinions though except ArcspacE ArcspacE of course.

It was on our terms in that the price was dictated and City paid it. By all accounts Pochettino wanted Walker gone. Now every successful club has a strong leader, one who isn't afraid to make the big call on players. Look at Fergie as the example, if a player crossed him they were out irrespective of who they were. Now out of our 11 Walker was the likeliest to be sacrificed.
 
Not buying the 'he left out poch' business. He thanked the staff from top to bottom and was reflecting on 8 years. He also never mentioned Harry Redknapp, AVB and Tim Sherwood. Nothing in it, in my opinion.

I have to agree, this transfer on the surface doesn't appear to be in our best interest. Maybe omitting Poch in his twitter testimony points to more than meets the eye

Indeed, similarly any fee accepted subsequently has an aspect of risk attached as to whether it was good or bad. Hense I'm not celebrating our 'coup' just yet.

In danger of being repetitive; this is the crux is my mis-givings though... I don't believe Poch actively set out to get rid... Just dealing with the situation that presented itself.

KWs shown no issue with hard work and the notion of improvement before... Why should he suddenly do so last Easter? ....UNLESS he'd had his head turned already????

We can only assume based on what little we see. We know enough now to see that Poch is quite nonchalant about getting rid of players who he doesn't see in his plans (for whatever reason), and I can imagine him sitting down with DL and saying "If we can get £50m for Walker, we could buy maybe 2 or 3 players that will add quality to the squad".

I know plenty rate Walker highly, but he's not the complete wing back that Danny Rose has turned into. We'll just have to see what happens, but best to keep faith for now.

I was thinking this too. If Trippier needed any more motivation than taking his place in the starting line up at Spurs, then it's knowing his performances there this coming season may put him ahead of KW in the England squad. I recall Southgate waxing lyrical about KT when he was called up.
