Match Leicester away Monday 19th 20.00 GMT

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ok I see the escuses coming out already. The ones who didn’t all played under Ange last season so know the drill. Of course city, dippers, villa, toon, goons, Brighton had no one at any tournaments this summer.
I get that it's a shit first result but the alternative is writing the season off after match day 1, there's a discussion to be had after 6-8 games or so if the fragile mentality of the team persists from last season but you can't fault a guy for not wanting to jack it in and follow the results on sky sports news after 1 game.

Overall a point away from home, new kids to bed in and a new striker's first game after only a week with us.

We will play better teams than Leicester this season away and win.

Glass half full for me, but Kulu needs to start along with Odobert, Bergvall ahead of Sarr.

We move on.

COYS!

As I said the other week.... and, well. Call me negative or whatever, but sorry I just don't see what fundamental "right now" change there has been to try and address any problems.

We are going to keep lining up with a right hand side of midfield/attack that offers fuck all against packed defences.

There has to be more reliable creative quality, and wide players that put the fear of god in the opposition.

In general we need more composure (and the ability to move the ball) in possession when the heat is on and the opposition have their tails up.

And the defence needs to stop fucking about, and from an organisational standpoint we can't keep allowing teams to run through our non-existent midfield every time they have a bit of the ball.

All problems faced last year, all still it seems are going to be there this year.

We've signed a 1 in 5 PL career striker to usurp our 1 in 4 option, apart from that all we've seen is a recruitment team with, seemingly, a teenage boy fetish. These lads need to be drip fed in and it is wishful thinking to expect them to be playing large parts at this point, and it's also optimistic to be trying to blood numerous ones at once at the top level.

This squad still needs several components, urgently. Anyone who doesn't think so - fans, or worse, people at the club - are deluded.
Couldn’t have put it better myself. Yet somewhere praising the tiMo loan good squad option, still think Johnson is young at 23 when gray and berg are 18 ffs.

I don't even know how to fix it anymore. This has been the story since the end of the Poch era. We've changed the manager multiple times, changed captains, basically the entire squad.

I guess you can lay it on ENIC as the knly real common thread (other than Son) but it's hard to connect the dots from the boardroom to the players habitually trying to fuck around and defend a 1-0 lead for 80 minutes.

I'm disappointed by the melters here, they've been relatively subdued compared to their usual standards in terms of piling shit on the likes of Johnston, Richarlison, Kulusevski, Werner and of course Ange. C'mon guys, I depend on you to cheer me up by reminding me how many people are more miserable than I am.

Very disappointing to drop two points but we move on.

Hope Bentancur is ok. I thought he was good defensively tonight but a bit toothless in possession.

Presumably Bissouma back from the Naughty Step next week to replace Bentancur, although Gray has made a case too. I thought Gray was absolutely outstanding for the 20-odd minutes he was on.

Would have liked to see Ange go to his bench sooner to take advantage of fresh legs and a strong bench. With hindsight, around the 55' mark would have been great.

Disappointing to see us struggle against the low block again. We'll get another chance to improve on that next week. The Maddison / Udogie / Son combo in the first half provided decent penetration but didn't find the right cutbacks.
Good to see Maddison coming back into form, and Udogie did better than I expected on the back of zero preseason. The Johnson / Sarr / Porro combination on the right is never going to work well against low blocks and I hope Ange mixes it up for the Everton game. Hope Porro is ok but Spence / Bergvall / Odobert could be an interesting right-side combo.

Would love to be a fly on the wall for Ange's match review video session this week.

Two points dropped tonight, with enough chances in the first half to win three games.
Thought Ange got a whole lot wrong tonight, poor subs, too much youth on at the one time and taking off Maddison was an error, lifted their fans and team in doing it.
Few plusses- we dominated the first half and looked dangerous from set pieces. Maddison looked much better.
Few minuses - Romero extremely poor, asleep for their goal. Vicarrio needs a slap for his treatment of Bergvall, didn't see him giving Romero the same treatment for their goal. Son half decent first half, awful in the second. Johnson poor all night.
Quite obvious we still need more, particularly a leader, who can grasp the game when needs be.
Awful decision to suspend Bissouma for the game, essentially gave him time off for misbehaving instead of fining him a couple of weeks wages.
