The one bone I have to pick with what we're seeing is playing Royal at CB rather than Ashley Phillips. I think it's reactionary to the idea that we're in the title fight (fringe, now) and want to stay there. Similar to what happened after Poch's team ran close in the league - we convinced ourselves we were on the precipice and didn't want to fiddle with the squad too much. So we got stale and ended up regressing. Poch and Levy both said we were "ahead of the plan", but then changed the plan because of that rather than seeing it through.

We bought Ashley Phillips to be a CB of the future. So blood him. He doesn't need to stay at the first team level, but give him a taste and see where he's at. Good for him and good for us. The goal this season was to change the tactics, change the culture, and see who worked and who didn't. Seeing Royal at CB accomplishes none of that, and we lose anyway.

Phillips is injured for a month.

You said there were protests IN THE STADIUM.

That is a lie - 10 balloons 🤦🏻‍♂️

So yes you're a cunt and I'll thankfully not see anymore of your shit.

Why you replying to a message that didn't address you then you cunt?

Haven't you put me on ignore yet?

If not, why not? Don't let me stop you.

Can't disagree with someone without calling them a cunt and then threatening to "ignore" them. Then not even able to ignore them.

Didn't realize that. Underlines even more how unrealistic it is for anyone to be too critical of the squad at this point.

Would make more sense to try and adapt the tactics though. Play 5 at the back. Sure Dier isn't ideal, but it puts Davies and Royal in more comfortable positions and allows Udogie and Porro more freedom to attack. What we did today was a lot of square pegs in round holes, just doesn't work.

5 at the back ? Fuck off

Well not so we can fit Dier in

We did not lose today due to defensive frailties. Everyone knew their job.

We should have been out of sight and not open to the counter.

Fuck me, you're one of the biggest idiots on here. I won't be taking any advice from a prick like you.
You must be having a Micheal Jackson "Man in The Mirror" moment there. It was you advice not mine. Don't be so hard on yourself. You need to Love and Embrace your Inner Idiot. Be kind and gentle with Him. We've learnt to tolerate Him. And take that Prick's advice every now and again. " Rather be Silent.".

So this thread kicks off after a run of defeats. The argument is the lack of quality in the squad. We have numbers including many on loan. The problem is the massive change in direction in the summer. The squad was set up to support Conte‘s style which had been successful elsewhere. Many fans including me were unhappy had that style and Levy has listened and instead of getting a Manager to work with the players we had has a totally different approach. One transfer window was never going to be enough to change all the players that were unsuited to the new style.
Dier despite his critics has been a good defender and was an England player. His play in the 2nd half of last season was littered with mistakes. Apparently he was carrying an injury and he was convinced he could get back in the team this season. This has proved to be wrong as he is not suited to this style and hopefully for him and us he will leave.
Selling Sanchez was correct as he has been a liability for years and now we can add to the squad immediately in January whilst we have to wait until Dier is sold to replace him.
One criticism I do have is that whilst I did not watch the MU game I understand they brought a kid in and he was MOM. When did we last do that? I keep on hearing about good young players in the academy but clearly Ange does not consider they are ready. Why is this? Are we not spotting future first team players. The kids get on the bench but at best get a couple of minutes and then go on loan. How long has Parot been on loan for instance. It is no good playing them in depleted Cup teams but when Phillips is fit which should be before VDV then give him a game with Romero, Porro & Udogie In a PL match.
As to the criticism of selling Kane, I agree this was money motivated over having the best squad this season.

Despite our injuries we were by far the better team today. Two goals against and the Davies /Royal partnership was responsible. Great saves from their keeper and poor finishing . Can5 Son stay onside for Gods sake. Better team sounds odd but we would have won our last 3 with A full first team.

Imagine selling Harry Kane and going into the season without any kind of replacement!
Then Imagine some so called fans being perfectly OK with it.

It defies any reasonable explanation. It's absolutely bizarre!
This is a point I think that incapsulates perfectly the way ENIC have perpetually dampened fans expectations to the point that something like this goes unnoticed.

Imagine if any of the other top 6 club, or any other club with any kind of ambition, had sold the best player in their history who is an academy graduate for a record fee to then proceed to;

A) Not replace him and seemingly not make any real meaningful effort to replace him.
B) not use the funds to improve the squad as a whole (the signings we made last summer were absolute necessity signings in positions that should have been strengthened years ago, regardless of the future of Harry Kane.

And then despite the above inexcusable ineptitude , the owners got pretty much no flack for this, and indeed you even had that odious bald prick going on a fan forum smiling like a Cheshire Cat gloating “we’ve got our Tottenham back” to a rapturous applause after a few decent results in the first few games of the season!

It just beggars belief.

We're lacking our creative force, so goals were always going to be hard to come by. Gil and Lo Celso have been afforded ample time to prove they will not make the grade at this level. Solomon, Maddison, Bissouma, and Sarr all out so they had to play...but we should have expected to struggle to score. All the more reason to try and defend with more numbers.

Being without 6-7 of our preferred 11, don't think I'm all that fussed honestly. Hard to get lathered up about it.

Oh no Archie Archie is back with his blanket disagrees.

Another missing from the protests today. Prick.
Oh dear...
How you doing? Enjoying taking part. How's the defence of the bald genius going? Keep on slagging off fans that actually care. Still handing over yer hard earned to get short changed by the bald freak and his band of yes men. Wonderful how much money was saved not getting in quality centre half back ups. Still enjoy the go karts....prick

Who should we have bought to "replace Kane"?

We were never going to buy a direct replacement, and that's for the better as there's no one who could replace him. We bought Maddison to replace Kane's creativity, we bought Johnson and Solomon to replace Sonny's wing play so that Sonny could hopefully replace Kane's goals.

We had a net spend of €130M this summer. In a season where we had no European funds to look forward to.

In the past 5 years our net spend has been:

23/24: - €130M (and counting)
22/23: - €139M
21/22: - €60M
20/21: - €97M
19/20: - €86M

ENIC/Levy's approach and failings have changed. You need to update your complaints, not keep banging on with the old spending complaints. They don't fit anymore.

Ange wanted Johnson to replace Kane, been said countless times but as per usual fans move the goalposts or just totally ignore the argument because it doesn't suit their narrative...

Or perhaps like I said 'back the manager' means 'appease me with who I want'...

Good Lord.....Your still here :mourloopy:
