I think Jose either over estimated the quality of the squad or underestimated the scale of the rebuild needed.

I personally think it is the quality of the squad. There are guys with reputations that are now ageing and not performing like they once were (Toby,Vert). Then there are the guys with reputations that just aren't as big as the hype (Dier, Alli). It's a tough one, as we also lack any sort of class at FB on either flank so there is just so much to do.

And you believe him. Just as you believed Poch.
:avbcringe:

Do you think managers are likely to publicly criticise the CEO who pays their wages?
No, I dont.

But why say he is "happy" and not "it is what it is and we have to get on with it"

Do you believe that Levy would spend over £200m in 2 windows but refuse to buy a striker out of that money, if the manager really wanted one ?

Or is it the case that the managers didn't prioritise a striker ?

Its a damn shame they didn't get a ST on a loan to buy deal. Gambling on Son staying fit without a backup was a massive, massive mistake. Whether Levy or Mou they collectively fucked up badly.

Agree 100%

I think he might of thought;

"Ok, Kanes out but we have Sonny and Lucas that can play there, we'll wait till the summer to get a quality one in"

Of course Sonny gets a bad injury and Lucas is not that good up top.

Really wonder who was ultimately responsible for deciding to wait until the summer.

It will have big consequences on whether Jose stays down the line I think, there could be major recriminations if the season ends badly.

Yep

As I said I think it was joint thing.

Levy wouldn't spend over £200m but absolutely refuse point blank to sign a striker out of that money if both
Poch and Jose were adamant about getting one.

IMO both Poch and Jose thought they could manage for this season with Harry, Son and Lucas and decided to strengthen in other areas (The wrong areas for me), replace Eriksen etc. They didn't factor in both Kane(Poch in the summer)and Sonny (Jose in Jan) getting long term injuries.

We all know the type of striker Jose prefers, a big strong old fashioned No. 9 and couldn't get one in Jan.

Well he’s not going to quit.

And I can’t see Levy sacking him.

Personally think that nobody worthwhile getting was available. Luck has given us a kicking and Jose (like Poch) doesn’t think Troy is ready yet. But maybe 8-12 months from now they think he will be.

Or our number 1 target to play up front was not available in January. But the club knows we can get him in the summer.

Fuck knows. As long as Kane or Son don’t leave I’m relatively happy with what we have right now. The rebuild to date has been mainly positive.

"There's nobody to blame and say you could didn't do your job well or you could do better than you did. Not at all. Again, we don't want a striker to just help us now. We wants a striker to be good for our future, possible to play with Harry Kane together in the future. And with the difficulties of the market, it was very, very difficult to find [one]."

John Thomas now

Having watched the Greaves video on Sky, I am sure he would prefer to be remembered as he was in his playing days rather than the picture of him recently as you show.

Yep

I like the avatar as it shows the 2 best strikers we've had in my lifetime.

You can look back in respect and love but that does not mean you can't still love and respect him as he is now.

It's pretty clear to everyone now that Poch most definately wasn't happy, despite him towing the line and saying so.
The more reasoned on here saw it, remarked on it, and got slaughtered and ridiculed for it by the Levy cultists at the time and the gullible fuckers are already at it again!

It's quite disturbing to be honest
To be clear:
Poch said he was happy. His mouth moved, it was in his accent, he used his words. He’s actually said he’s happy and you can see and hear him say it. But it’s not true because you don’t think so. And even more than that, you think everyone agrees with you that this was a lie or a mirage.

Mourinho then says he’d be happier with another striker. I mean, which manager wouldn’t be happier with more players? He’d have been as well telling us that fire is hot. And you take what he said as gospel?

One guy says it, but it’s not true, because well, just because. The other one does and it is.

You‘re a fucking idiot mate. You must be peddling this shite on purpose. Nobody can be this stupid.

I never posted on this thread because, well, Levy can never go.

ENIC owns the club so there’s no way of forcing out Levy & Lewis! Hence the thread is a bit pointless to be honest, I think it would have been better to ask if we are satisfied with ENIC or not.

As far as I am concerned, I am relatively satisfied with how the club is run in comparison to how it was under Sugar. We’re incredibly stable financially, our results have improved since those dark days of the late 90s and my overall experience as a fan has been pretty darn good ever since they took over.

However, I do feel some sense of disappointment with ENIC in recent times, mainly because I see other examples of clubs being better run and I think I have a better idea of what ENIC wants to achieve, which is definitely not in line with what the fans want.

We’ve been so incredibly close to reaching the top in the last few years. In each of those situations, ENIC’s decision has been to continue with what we have rather than push for the extra pieces so that they could push us all the way to the top. Look at Liverpool. When their results improved under Klopp and they came within reaching distance of the top, they went out and spent to make sure the team would become even stronger.

Not so with ENIC! And that goes to show what they want to achieve is very different to what we want to see achieved as fans. They are not interested in winning. What they want is a team that performs well and sits in the upper half of the PL. Unlike Liverpool for example, they are not interested in increasing revenue by building a great team and garnering more fans and selling more merchandise.

The way ENIC wants to make money, I am guessing, is by building a team that is attractive to potential buyers so that they could sell it for the highest possible price and they could wash us off their hands. That doesn’t need to be a winning team, it just needs to be a team that is not in danger of dropping out of the PL, is competing in Europe and is capable of getting results with a little more investment (which ENIC itself is unwilling to make) and doesn’t have long term financial spendings that are necessary such as a new stadium.

We won’t win anything with ENIC because investing the money to win is not in their interest. They just want us to be glossy and attractive to potential buyers. And my guess is a new owner would turn up sometime soon rather than later. And that‘s a shame personally, because I like the fact that we are not owned by some dodgy Russian billionaire or some country with very questionable human rights issues.
Levy should be arrested for having very questionable supporters rights issues.

Of course he has the final say. He’s in charge of our financial well being.
Maybe we could have spunked money we don’t have and get banned from the CL but thankfully we are self sufficient.

However it’s not Levys job to force Poch or Jose to target a DM or striker and if the manager doesn’t want a player it’s not Levys job to buy that later regardless.

Case in point:
Jose didn’t want Piatek without a loan.
We didn’t buy Piatek.

That’s about it really.
Let's face it None of us really know what goes on in the boardroom . The only the only thing we really know about are the financials and who can guess if those are correct. Remember Bernie Madoff?
It's all a total mystery. All we can do is speculate. And hope they are going to set things right in the summer.
