Player Lucas Bergvall

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Very revealing quote from Bergvall after the game today:

-He played as a 6 last season- his words 👀
-Hes playing as a 10 now- his words 👀

There was a lot of debate as to whether he had played the 6 last season, and apparently if he can or ever could- he believes he did. There is a lot of debate as to whether or not he is a 10 or can play the 10- in his words he is and just did today.

Is Frank playing with two 10s in his head (w/Sarr), or is he playing with a lopsided 10? Interesting stuff from Bergvall for sure...

Bergvall is much more 6 than 10 IMO

Barca wanted him as the Frenkie De Jong understudy and I can see why. I’d still have him as an 8 because he can carry the ball so well but I really don’t get it as a 10 tbh, we are taking one of our most dominant CMs and removing him from most of the action

Said same in match thread, needs to be much deeper to kickstart our progression up the pitch

Somebody has to progress us through the middle and he’s the most likely.

I’ll be honest, I’m starting to get a bit concerned that zero ball progression through the middle might be the plan. I’m hoping it’s just that they needed to make us defensively solid first and don’t want to play any risky passes into the press for now but it’s translating into CMs playing with no balls ATM

Totally understand the concern. Last night was horrible football, bournmouth was horrible football, the first half against West ham was pretty stale also

However Frank did say in the post press conference that he needs to get the team defensively sound first as a prioty.
The attacking and goals will come

Frank's quite a straight shooter, so certainly believe this isn't what he's after. Think once the defensive patterns are solid he'll start tweaking how we build up attacks

Yeah I saw that he said that and he’s got a point. We needed to be hard to beat first and in the mean time, set pieces and spamming crosses has got us through.

Brighton will be fascinating because he will need to rotate a bit and no doubt they will try to do what Bournemouth did by taking Romero out of the game with the ball

NGL you had me in the first half.... When I saw your opening paragraph I thought it was going to be a tirade about Frank but alas tis was a level headed analysis. :mourthumb:

Clean sheet mentality, innit. Get that right first as the guys are used to each other and he can get his point across quicker, while working on getting to know the forwards, letting the forwards get to know each other and work out how that will work best.
In the meantime, we're hard to score against. Seems like the right way to go about things.
