Player Luka Vuskovic

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Vinai openly making statements that we plan to increase our salary cap for players, the declared 100m investment in the club from ENIC, Lange saying we're going to be ambitious for the right players, the fact we apparently offered Semenyo a better financial package than even City.

Not Abramovic at Chelsea stuff but there are clear signals of intent regarding spending and paying bigger wages than we ever have previously. If we stay up this summer I'd expect a significant amount of capital investment in the squad.
Plus the release that the £100m was the initial move and more would be made available.

Agreed. There's a step from that 5k/10k up to serious, life changing money that any pro is understandably absolutely desperate to make. Vuskovic's only chance (and very high chance) of doing that right now is by coming back and impressing at Tottenham.
Yeah we're massively in the driving seat here and can, quite feasibly, force him to see out his contract on a v.low salary if we want to be dickheads.

Obviously if an insane mega offer comes in maybe we think about selling, but beyond that, I think he's pretty much obliged to sign an extension to ensure he has one big contract under his belt.

Literally goes from very comfortably well off but basically on League 1 wages to a multi millionaire and able to sort out himself and his family for life with that deal.

I mean I do get both sides of the discussion.

Everything about the club seems so fucking messed up and chaotic that it is just natural that negativity creeps in.

On the positive side - we have him locked down for long contract and financially speaking, we are very able side. We can afford to give him very good salary and everything. We are hard to muscle off in that sense and contract is a contract. And we do play in the 2nd most lucrative league in the planet. Though unfortunately it is hard to imagine how we could play in the most lucrative one (CL) next year.

On the negative side - let's face it. We are absolutely in a free-fall as a football club. "Incompetence" is the first word that comes to mind to absolutely everyone, to our own fans, to neutrals, to rivals. Everyone. If I would be in the position of people close to Vuskovic, my first priority would be to keep him as far from this mess as possible. Let's face it - he has nothing to win with us, we would need total clearout in hierarchy and in playing squad. Why would he waste his life on waiting for things to improve while he could walk straight into well-oiled-machines like Bayern or Real? Just ... why?

I very much hope that he is willing to come back and we can actually make a massive upgrade on Romero with that. I would absolutely love him to come back, kick ass and become club legend. Just that when I try to put myself in neutral position it is hard to believe it will go like that.

The thing is, he's only 18, isn't reliant on pace and plays in a position where it's common to have a long career at the top level.

It's quite feasible Vuskovic could have another 15-18 years in the top 5 leagues. He doesn't need to rush straight to one of the mega clubs where the pressure will be immense if he's signed on a huge fee. The media in Spain and Germany is absolutely brutal on Bayern/Madrid players. Maybe he's ready for it but I don't think he needs to make that leap right away and there's a chance he ends up a bit-part/rotation player if he doesn't hit the ground running.

We're a total shitshow but that's not necessarily a bad thing for a young player that wants regular game-time in a top league. Gray and Bergvall, for instance, have actually benefited massively by getting so much game-time amidst us being an absolute car crash, and young players are often the ones that can impress and emerge from these shit situations.

I actually think Spurs aren't a bad fit for him at all given his age. Big club, high salary (if he signs), low expectations in the best league in the world. Then move to a mega club down the line when he's really ready.

Liverpool are also in another battle, this time with Manchester United, for Wolves' 18-year-old forward Mateus Mane this summer. The Portuguese-born England youth international is valued at £50m by his club. (Fichajes)

This is just to highlight the insane prices clubs now seek for players.

There is zero doubt in my mind Vuskovic is a £100m player.
He will not got for that silly number. No way. Its just a negotiating position.

Not his only chance at all. If Bayern come in with big boy money, and he says he wants to leave, then he'll make more money at Bayern than he will here.

If you just went out and made shit up, it would be more reliable than Fichajes.

Yea, I do not disagree with you. Chaos does create opportunities.

But one have to consider that top athletes always aim to the very top. It is OK to take step by step too.
But rest assured - none of such athletes think in the way that "oh, I have 15 years, so it is ok to flush 5 of them down the toilet, playing for 11th-17th place with no European football". And well -as much as I love Spurs and always will - for someone that hasn't been fan for all his life might at this point perceive coming here like this. The leadership and hierarchy of the club has worked hard to cultivate that kind of image. Unfortunately.

We didn’t trigger the release clause for Semenyo ergo we weren’t legally allowed to speak to him or his team to make this offer.

It’s known he was a player we admired. We did fuck all to really get him. It’s very easy to say we offered better terms than City did - that would imply we knew that confidential information too.

Smells of absolute spin and waffle.

If it was Levy I'd agree but I think this new lot do genuinely seem willing to offer quite big packages to players.

This summer we'll see if they really mean it (provided we're not relegated).

I think you're underestimating the buzz around this player. In today's market he could easily be worth that if a rich club has the intent to go for him. Rated one of the best players in the Bundesliga, physically dominating opposition players... at 18, in his debut season in the league and scoring Puskas award contender goals? Yeah, he's in that bracket.

As ever though, you're only worth what people are willing to pay - but based on his last two seasons development he ticks the boxes.

I can easily see Bayern bidding £75m+.

Why would even think of selling him when he has not even played for us yet. What is the policy / project if we do. Whole point is to benefit from these young players for years to come. Why would we sell him a top prospect and keep likes of drag and the other lad.
