Match Man City (H) – 26 Feb – 19:30 kickoff

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wish I could have watched this one
Doesn’t feel like it was horrible and not even ‘could have nicked it’, sound like we were right up for it
Highlights in the antipodes are pretty fkn average

This was a classic game of two halves as Tottenham were fortunate to get to half-time with a single-goal deficit but then Manchester City were lucky to get to the final whistle with their lead intact.

When the referee signalled the end of the game, Ange Postecoglou and Pep Guardiola came together to speak good-naturedly for a while on the pitch and after that the City boss sought out Djed Spence and had one of his famed animated, opposition player chats.

When asked what he had said to the 24-year-old Spurs full-back, Guardiola explained with a dead pan delivery: "Why you run too much? Should be more calm so the impact… Udogie is quite similar. The pace of this team? Pfft, it is difficult.

"Maybe Liverpool [are better], but Bergvall, every time he has the ball and run, unstoppable, Spence and Pedro Porro, Udogie, Kulusevski, Son, an incredible physical team with a clear idea to play.

"They play really good and they play without Romero and Van de Ven, two of maybe the best central defenders in the league. The game, it was open second half because we didn’t close the first.

"In this stadium always they have 20 to 25 minutes and second half we suffered, but should be closed in the first one. That was the problem. It happened many times this season that we give away unbelievable amount of goals and up front there are many games, like Champions League at Sporting we should be 1-3 or 1-4 in the first half and we lost 4-1. Many times happen and today fortunately it finished good."

Yea, only the thing is - we started with plan B. Many players on bench were plan A.

And due to weak perofmance in first half lost the game.
It is nothing too tragic (to lose to ManCity), but starting lineup and tactics were very poor - our first half xG was 0,09 (!).

sure - it was a wrong call - but the same team started the second half that started the first - the lineup in itself wasn't the issue IMHO considering it was our backline that was disorganized.

Very odd people are crying so much about the defense after a match we failed to score a goal and held City to just one.

We had at least 3 or 4 good chances and we didn't capitalize.

So did they in the first half thanks to our shite defence

We had a decent 20 minute spell in the second half and that was it!

Have you watched other PL matches? It seems like you have this idea that good defense don't even allow chances. That's simply not true.
Ange swapped Danso & Gray from right to left, dropped Spence & brought back Porro.

Ange did not have to do either of those things but he chose to.

These decisions were the ones which led to City gaining a foothold in the game and creating several clear cut chances.

The fact Spurs were still in the game was complete luck and due to City's poor finishing.

Injuries have been cited as an excuse for Ange but he is often the master of his own downfall with his team selection and tactics.

City were low on confidence and there for the taking, off the back of the defeat to Liverpool, in my opinion.

Spurs need a credible manager who makes better decisions than Ange.

Totally agree. Really disappointing and self-inflicted by Ange. Just when we had some momentum for the first time in months.

Re Tel why did we get an unproven 19 yr old paying a substantial loan fee? We needed a proven player. Not some kid who’s got as much experience as Dane. Why didn’t show just as much faith in the Dane or Lankshear as we have in Tel. What did they see in him to think he could play CF better than two of our own. The whole deal stinks just as much as the logic behind it. Same with the goalie. We had Austin who played well and what do we do. We go out and and buy a 21 yr old for £12M. Was it necessary?
I totally agree with you. Is it to keep the people who moan about Levy not spending money quiet?
We need the finished article, not foreign, unproven youngsters who are no better than our homegrown ones.
It really makes no sense (unless someone is making money on the deals).

And yet we are 13th in the table with half our team running around like headless chicken every game. So even Guardiola suggests we have top players that according to his words should do a lot better than hover above the relegation zone, had we a half decent and capable manager.

Gray is a special player. I agree. When you see him live, you do get more of an idea as to why his quality is there. A lot of his quality comes from him football intelligence and his ability to engage, not things that are easy to see on TV games.

Not seen him live yet ; but even on the TV in the pub he looks very assured and competent; to say the least.

One good thing about our season so far .

Take out Johnson and put in MADDs. Never see how kulu can be picked ahead of him in the creativity stakes. When do you see kulu ping passes over the top or even turn a player.

Set up Solanke brilliantly against Villa (the little chip goal) And Solanke repaid the favour against Pool.

But look we could be stronger that way,but I like Kulu central with Bergvall and Bents in behind
Still think Maddison drifts in and out
of games too often and won't press like Kulu. But he's quality when given TIME. When it's more hustle and bustel Kulu thrives more imo.

In fact Kulu playing off Solanke is exceptional work rate from the front.

I think Pep has critique Angeball and is as baffled as the rest of the people who understand what they are watching. Pep likes to blow smoke but I genuinely think he is looking at the team and thinks..."I could get this lot flying" There's too much heedless running and not enough control of the game itself. I think if we get Iraola in and do not add one player we will get ECL I can't wait till we free ourselves of Angeball
